More About Coach Jabari

I have hands-on experience coaching youth athletes, primarily in track and field. I’ve coached high school athletes in the long jump, working with them on technique, approach mechanics, and building confidence on the runway. I’ve also trained middle school students across various events, focusing on fundamental athletic development, injury prevention, and creating a positive, motivating training environment.
Most of my coaching has been in school-based programs, supporting athletes during both practice sessions and competition days. I typically work with students ranging from 11 to 18 years old, and I’m comfortable adapting my coaching style to match their skill level and learning pace. While I don’t currently hold formal industry certifications, I bring practical experience, strong communication skills, and a genuine commitment to helping young athletes grow and reach their potential.

I competed at the Division I level for Rutgers University, where I was a Track & Field All-American in the long jump. During my collegiate career, I earned MAAC Conference Champion honors in the long jump and was selected as an All–Big Ten athlete while competing for Rutgers. I also finished my career ranked among the top 10 all-time long jumpers in school history.
These accomplishments reflect not only my athletic ability but also the discipline, work ethic, and competitive experience I bring to any coaching or training environment.

A typical session with me is structured, intentional, and tailored to the athlete’s goals—whether they’re training specifically for track & field or looking to improve overall speed, explosiveness, and agility.
We start with a dynamic warm-up designed to activate key muscle groups and prepare the body for high-intensity work. This includes mobility movements, light plyometrics, sprint drills, and event-specific activations.
From there, the main portion of the session focuses on technique and performance development. For track athletes, this may include runway rhythm work, takeoff mechanics, approach consistency, and jump-specific drills such as pop-ups, penultimate step work, and bounding progressions. For speed and agility clients, I incorporate linear acceleration drills, change-of-direction mechanics, resisted sprints, and explosive plyometrics to build power and efficiency.
Every session blends technical detail with performance-based training. I give clear, constructive feedback and break down movement patterns so athletes understand not just what they’re doing, but why it matters.
We close with a cool-down focused on recovery—light jogging, breathing work, and targeted stretching to support long-term durability and reduce injury risk.
Overall, athletes can expect high energy, strong attention to detail, and a training environment built on progression, confidence, and measurable improvement
