More About Coach Grace

* USATF Level I Track and Field Coach
I have experience in coaching athletes on general strength & agility as well as sport-specific techniques in jumps, hurdles, and sprints. The majority of my experience is with ages 7-18; however, I am comfortable working with any age group and would welcome an expansion to my experience.
I have a B.S. in Kinesiology and a Masters in Public Health, and I approach training with science and evidence.

I competed in the sport of track & field for 15 years and have experience in coaching/competing in nearly all events.
In my final high school season, I jumped a personal best of 5'7" and took 3rd at Pennsylvania State Championships. When making a college decision, I was presented with many great options and my shortlist included Cornell, Duke, and William & Mary - where I ultimately chose. I was recruited as a heptathlete, but I shifted my focus to high jump after a series of injuries during my junior year.
Choosing W&M was the best decision I have ever made; however, during my time there our team existed in a constant state of coaching flux. It wasn't until my junior year that I had a coach that I could truly trust - and I have my performance to show for it. In my breakthrough season, I broke my high jump personal best by three inches (1.78 / 5'10") and qualified for the NCAA East Regional meet for the first time. Because of my background, my #1 priority as a coach is to build the trust of my athletes. I approach the sport with an evidence-based mindset and I encourage my athletes to ask "why".
In addition to coaching, I am more than happy to provide advice for the recruiting process as well as navigating the balance of elite high school/college athletics.

All sessions will include a sport-specific warm-up, which includes aspects of general conditioning, form, and speed-development. Additional emphasis will be placed on posture for injury prevention. The athlete should expect to do many drills before we get into full swing (ex. for high jumpers, short approach scissors and plyometric drills before full approach jumps). If requested, I am happy to work with the athlete to formulate a full training plan.

Client Reviews

Coach Grace related well to the girls (11 and 13) who were working on speed-work for soccer. Gave them great pointers to work on when sprinting, challenged them but was also very encouraging.

Great Coach ...

Coach Grace was great with my son! She taught him drills he's able to continue to work on at home w/o the need for high jump pit. She spent time making sure his technique was correct while sharing parts of her own personal experience which further motivated him and left him wanting to train more. I'd recommend her to other high jump athletes wanting to perfect technique.

My son really enjoyed his session with Coach Grace. Very positive training! She is super supportive and knowledgeable.
I highly recommend Coach Grace.

Grace is so personable and patient. She did a great job in our coaching session. Looking forward to further sessions and taking the learning from her competitively.

Coach Grace takes a whole-person approach to developing her athletes and it shines through in her sessions. She provides an encouraging environment with the right balance of positive feedback and constructive criticism. Working with Grace has not only made her faster and stronger but also more confident
Grace has helped my daughter improve her running form and speed more effectively than any soccer coach in 9 years of the sport
