More About Coach Garrett

I am currently a NASM strength & conditioning specialist for a local hospital- affiliated fitness facility. I am a former high school head track and field coach and assistant cross country coach. I ran collegiate-level track & field and cross country and was an assistant coach at the collegiate level for two years.

I received my Master’s in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport and Exercise Psychology. In addition to my degree I have numerous certifications including, NASM certified personal trainer, NSCA certified strength & conditioning specialist, and NASM fitness nutrition specialist.

I try to incorporate a cognitive approach to training. I like to make sure I explain what we are doing, why we are doing it, and how we can get better because of it. I enjoy working with athletes of any age because enthusiasm and determination know no age. I have a good working knowledge of the biomechanical functions and exercise physiology of the body. I understand the science behind what it takes to meet your goals and become an expert at any skill.

When I first meet with a client, I would like to know what they want to accomplish, what experience they have, and what they believe their strengths and weaknesses are. I begin all sessions with an active, dynamic warm-up in order to help reduce injury and prepare for training. Before starting a program, I like to complete a physical assessment to utilize during the program to measure progress.

In my spare time I enjoy weight lifting, running local 5ks and participating in other outdoor recreation activities.

After you pay for the program, we will send you and email that includes new client intake paperwork, such as the new client questionnaire and health questionnaire. You fill these out, return them to us, and we review them. Then I will contact you via email to discuss your goals so that I can get a better idea of what exactly you are trying to accomplish and why, as well as the time frame we are looking at for accomplishing them. We will them schedule our first time online chat. When this is completed you will get a link to your workout and we will go from there!

Client Reviews

Garrett did a great job helping me clarify goals and then creating a plan that is helping me improve as a runner. His experience, positive attitude and knowledge resulted in a great set of workouts. Highly recommended.

Coach Garrett did a wonderful job with my son who was hoping to improve his running during gym class and on the playground. After a few sessions my son's confidence and speed increased. No longer at the back of the pack, now he's in the middle! We couldn't be happier. This was a great addition to physical therapy, thank you!
