More About Coach Emily
I am a 500hr/200hr certified yoga teacher with accolades for Philosophy, ethics and lifestyle. I've been teaching Hatha, Vinyasa, Chair Yoga, Meditation (including anxiety relief, self esteem building, guided imagery) for over ten years. I've been a practicing Yogi for 18 years. Recently, I was a Yoga Teacher at a mental health hospital that focuses on short term, acute care of mental health challenges of all kinds. I work with all ages, including young children and the elderly. I teach to those with all levels of fitness experience. I have many private students over the years and would like to shift my focus to mainly teaching my own courses.
I have openings in my schedule for new students, but these spots will fill up quickly.
I have been a Musical Theater performer for almost 20 years. I have done several types of dance in professional shows, including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, ballroom. I have trained on aerial silks for four years.
I first meet with clients to talk about experience, goals, injuries, emotional trauma, etc., and allow them to ask me questions to get to know me. For instance, in a guided meditation session we will stretch in several easy postures, build heat in the body, go through several cleansing breath techniques before finding a comfortable and restorative pose. Then we will continue gentler cleansing breaths, using 5 and 3 second pauses in between to calm the body and slow the breath. I will explain what the meditation is about, what to do if they get fidgety, nervous, or uncomfortable. Then we will begin their chosen meditation, leaving room to process each scenario and emotion. After the meditation I will give instructions to slowly and gently wake up the body, eventually sitting up, then standing up. We will conclude with tai chi breaths to create a slightly more elevated energy, then talk about the experience, answer any questions, etc.
