More About Coach Elsebeth

I have played basketball since I was 5, on co-ed and AAU girls teams. I played in one of the best girl’s high school basketball conferences in the country, the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) in Washington, DC. I played two years at the University of Bridgeport on full scholarship, and then transferred (for academic reasons) to the University of the Sciences. After playing two years at Sciences, I was a Graduate Assistant at the University of the Sciences as I completed studies for my master's degree. I have also been an assistant coach for the Germantown Maryland Lady Panthers organization from 2009-2016, working with players from elementary through high school. I coached at Shenandoah University for 6 seasons where we won our conference championship and had 2 at-large NCAA bids. In 2021 I was named the WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association) DIII assistant coach of the year.

I am most knowledgeable in point guard skills and guard skills in general. I do know about post skills, however, my area of expertise is primarily with guards.

I worked Point Guard College (PGC) sessions during the summer of 2015. Through this experience I have worked with young men and women with ages ranging from 7th grade - College athletes.

A typical session with me would start with an evaluation session. We would discuss your goals for basketball, and my assessment for the best way to get there. I focus first on the fundamentals and build to more advanced skills. I am able to teach all aspects of the game; ball handling, shooting, defense, foot work/foot speed, moving on the ball, moving off the ball, positioning, etc. To me, the little things are what separate the good players from the great players. I stress hard work and dedication; as there is no way you will get to a high competitive level without these characteristics. I will do my best to stress the things that will help get you to where you want to be. I have done private lessons with girls of all ages; from elementary school to college. I know what it takes to get to the next level.

University of Bridgeport - Averaged about ten minutes a game as a freshman. My freshman year we lost in our conference championships, but were ranked regionally and advanced to the NCAA tournament. I was the starting point guard during my sophomore year, leading the team to a conference record of 13-8 and advancing to the Conference finals. As a sophomore I averaged 36 minutes a game, led the team in assists, was third in rebounding, and third in steals.
University of the Sciences - Started in both junior and senior years, leading the team in assists both years. Led the team and conference in free throw percentage my junior year. Lost in the conference championships my junior year.

For a first meeting I would take you through an evaluative session, where I would assess all skills; conditioning, ball handling, shooting, passing, defense, and footwork. After the first session we would discuss your goals and what I think would be the most beneficial skills to work on. I have many ball handling, shooting, foot work, and conditioning drills. I also watch game film with athletes who work with me, to make sure our skills are translating to in-game situations.

I am available to complete hour long sessions as well as 30 minute sessions.

Client Reviews

I am pleased with Coach Elsebeth, my daughter liked her. I liked her training methods and her ability to improve my daughters game.

We felt great about the first session that we had. I felt Elsebeth was very professional and really patient with Ian (he is 8). He learned so much already and we are really excited to have more sessions with Elsebeth.

Great session with Coach , she is very knowledgeable about the game along with, the fundamentals to help her athlete get to where she need to be. Also she has a great personality and work well with kids.

One of the hardest workers I have ever seen. Very knowledgeable about the game, very good at seeing the little things, and assessing players
