More About Coach Dunte
Hurdle races are about aggression, speed, technique, and rhythm. You bring the aggression and I'll help you become faster, smoother, and more consistent.
I was a high school hurdler who had to figure things out with no coach. I found success in other sports during college then returned to track as an open-class decathlete. Now I'm 100% focused on Masters sprint hurdles.
As a coach, I have helped 200+ athletes in ultimate, rugby, lacrosse, and soccer get faster. Since 2022, I have grown a middle school hurdles program in Broomfield and am developing state-bound 100m/110m hurdlers from several area high schools.
If you're a junior (12+) or a masters athlete (35+) in the hurdles or sprints, I can help you run a better race this year.
My approach to speed & technique coaching has been developed over 11 years working with high school, collegiate, and semi-pro athletes. You'll find influence from Alec Holler's approach to Feed The Cats, Steve McGill & Hector Cotto's Downhill Hurdling programs, and Boo Schexnayder's ideas about developing power in sprinters.
What you'll remember is that you train LESS, yet race faster!
CoachUp Nation Articles:
I am a: Masters 110m hurdler and Highland Games lightweight thrower.
I have been a: high school hurdler and 4x2 relay sprinter, Texas football defensive end recruit, Texas Tech rugby outside center, decathlete, and weightlifter.
But it's not about me. I've helped prospects make DI college programs, helped amateurs go semi-pro and reach nationals, helped masters get into and stay in the sprints & hurdles, and helped a lot of second-stringers go starting varsity.
My athletes' accomplishments say more than my career ever will.
Speed, technique, rhythm -- that's the core of hurdling so that's the focus of training sessions. A hurdler doesn't have to be the BEST sprinter, but you have to be a GREAT sprinter, so we emphasize speed first and foremost.
After a posture- & power-focused warmup, you run timed reps over known distances. We emphasize great technique and take lots of rest. Because we put speed first, my approach consistently works for sprinters & horizontal jumpers, too.
For hurdlers, then we layer in hurdle technique. When hurdle technique is consistent -- not perfect, just the same every time -- we focus on rhythm over hurdles.
For sprinters, we never get away from speed, but get into race modeling with select long sprints.
I don't believe in volume training. You aren't going to do a lot of work just to say you did a lot of work. Every minute of a session, from the speed drills to the sprints, from the technique work to speed endurance, is about quality. When you've had your best rep of the day, the session is over. Go home, get rest, show up ready to get better next time.
We measure or time everything, so there's no hoping and there's no guessing in my program. Just quality work and plenty of evidence. Thus, there is guaranteed improvement.

Coach Dante accesses, evaluates, and makes a solid plan with the athlete. He gives great advice on what is needed to fuel the athlete and how to recover. Comes prepared and is ready for every coaching session and expects the same preparation for physical and mental accountability for the athlete to be successful. Very professional and has a wonderful sense of humor. He makes it fun even through challenging parts. My daughter says he is awesome, outstanding, easy to work with, and has a small weather magic wand that comes out sometimes (meaning somehow he can pick the perfect time when the weather cooperates for a smooth coaching session... :). We recommend Coach Dunte and look forward to a wonderful successful year.

Our son won several team awards for an amazing season. He set a PR at Leagues for 300m hurdles and ran a windy PR in the 110. He has progressed a lot this year!
