More About Coach Domenic
I have been training at B.F.T. (Ballistic Fitness Training formerly U.S. Fitness Care) since 2010 but have been cultivating athletes at this wonderful facility for the past five years after receiving a Jumpstretch Certification (2011). I started out training high school and collegiate teams sporadically for the first two years (mostly football and women's basketball) while progressing to small groups of athletes and now a few individual clients over the past three years (typically between ages 12-22).
Some of the teams and groups of players I have trained and worked with over the past five years: La Roche women's basketball, West Allegheny high school football, Hopewell high school women's basketball/volleyball, Moon Area boy’s midget football, Moon Area high school basketball/football, etc. Many other athletes surrounding the Ohio valley also frequent B.F.T. in hopes of earning a scholarship, contract, or championship; some of the athletes that I have worked with who are currently competing at the high school, collegiate, or professional level are: Tony Townsend (basketball), Brooke Williams (basketball), Aaron and Cameron Johnson (basketball), Joe Sibeto (baseball), Matt Emge (baseball), Jonathan Jansma (baseball), Katie Dazckowski (softball), Zach Shoemaker (soccer), Isiah Neely (football), Torian Leak (football), DJ Sims (wrestling), etc. I have been only been training part-time at B.F.T. for the past few years since I have been fairly distracted from earning my bachelors degree (Biology from S.R.U). Over the next few years I intend to keep helping as many athletes as I can whilst playing as much competitive rugby as humanly possible.
I am currently at the point in my life where I am entering a period of my best athletic days from my past experience, relentless education, perseverance, and dedication. This summer my 7s team will be competing in the Mid-Atlantic Division in hopes of qualifying for the USA Rugby Club National 7's Championships. In the fall/spring I play rugby union for the Pittsburgh Harlequins Rugby Football Club which also essentially competes in the same territorial region.
In high school (Seton-La Salle) I lettered 3 years in football but also played rugby and c.y.m. basketball (actually won 2 JV Championships) for two years.
I have always believed the ability to adapt to internal/external demands is the most fundamental concept an athlete/person can learn. An athlete of mine will typically spend half their time training on Cormax equipment (power/speed/explosiveness/strength & conditioning) with the other half devoted to functional/athletic movements (balance/flexibility/limb positioning/timing/planning). I personally strive to work with athletes on these state-of-the-art ballistic training machines while implementing other helpful exercises/techniques to increase athletic awareness. Athletes of mine will progressively improve raw fitness measures (tracked from aerobic and anaerobic baseline tests) and movement coordination/recruitment throughout training sessions. Teaching/training athletes how to perform certain functional/athletic movements in a safe and engaged manner is ultimately my main goal.
