More About Coach Devin

I've trained athletes from 7-13 years of age but I am also available for high school and collegiate athletes. I've coached at the LaMarr Greer basketball camp held at Middle Township High School which had ages that ranged from elementary school to high school. I've also coached at a free clinic at UrbanPromise in Pennsauken. I also coached at free clinics while I played at Stockton University, when the team would hold them for the local youth. As of right now I have a few clients as well that I train on a weekly basis.

I played 4 years at Highland Regional High School from 2005 to 2009. I was a starter, team captain as well as the leading scorer my senior year under Andy Thies. After high school I went on to play at Stockton University, whom went to the Division 3 national championship the previous year, from 2009 to 2011. I took a year off then resumed playing in the 2012-2013 season. At Stockton University I played under Gerry Matthews and Scott Bittner.

Before my training session I like to get to know the player. I like to learn their strengths and their weaknesses and typically what position they play on their school or AAU team. Also I like to learn as much as I can about the type of plays their teams run and the type of shots they usually get in the midst of a game. Once I learn these things I design a workout that will specifically benefit that player. If the player is a ball handler on their team we work on ball handling first and then we work on shooting off the dribble and floaters around the rim. Also, since the game today involves so many pick and rolls i will work on players decision making in the pick and roll. Everything depends on the player. The more advanced the player is the more advanced and difficult the drills are. Additionally, if the player is a beginner the drills will focus on the fundamentals. Typically, regardless of your position and/or ability my sessions always involve getting shots up and learning to be a better and more consistent shooter. Whether being a better shooting means speeding up your release, expanding your range, and/or footwork I have the drills and expertise to help you. I myself am a guard though that is known to be a shooter so helping players develop a better shot and ball handle is where I thrive. Also, I like to do a lot of skill work that involves conditioning. I'll never have a player flat out doing sprints. When you workout with me, if you're running, you're running in between shots. If you are jumping, you are jumping to finish at the rim or if you can, to dunk. Everything is to help you excel in game situations so you are prepared for any situation that may arise in a game.

“Best Coach Ever!” 2nd meet with our 8 year old son and he is loving the practice. Brags about his Coach making all his shots and teaching him new tricks. Looking forward to booking more spring sessions!

Coach Devin was AWESOME!!! He helped my son really increase his basketball IQ and build confidence in his skills. Coach Devin is knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging. My son was tired after his first session ,but couldn’t wait for me to schedule the next one!

Coach Devin is very patient! He’s helping my 13 years old to be a better ball- handler and shooter. I can see a big different in her when practicing. she love it, wants to continue with the coaching with him. Thank you!

Coach Devin was awesome with my 14 year old son. He can’t wait to do more sessions!

excellent coach , totally helped me a lot the first day !!

Coach Devin is a great coach. My son really likes his. He is very flexible. So glad we picked him.

Coach Devin was absolutely awesome! Our 14 year old saw immediate improvement with just one lesson. We couldn’t get him back inside with practicing after he met and had his first session with Devin. Our son is not very tall and really needed to focus on ball handling and shooting in order to make it on his high school team. Coach Devin has given him confidence we have never seen before.

great job keep the kids interested and make it fun.

I enjoyed my session with Coach Devin. Learned how to become a better ball-handler and stronger shooter. He gave me hands on instruction and gave me great energy when he saw I needed it. Thanks Devin I will see you soon.

Coach Devin has a quiet strength about him. He’s very patient and encouraging. My 14 year old son had never played basketball for a team. This year his is playing on an intramural team. After just 2 coaching sessions even my son’s coach sees improvement in the way he is playing! And now my son is excited to go to basketball camp this summer and play in the league again next year - he feels much more confident now!

Taught me a lot even with the limited amount of space I feel that my terrible ball handling got better in just one day. Can’t wait for the next session

I brought my 11 and 9 year old boys to Coach Devin as average players for their respective ages to focus on ball handling and get more advanced in their individual skills. Over the past month, both boys have made a big improvement working with Coach Devin in private sessions, and they are rapidly continuing to improve. The coach uses a systematic and comprehensive approach focusing on solid fundamentals, and the kids do better after each session because he has a great eye for minor corrections resulting in big improvements. Coach Devin is structured in his coaching, has a solid plan, executes it very well, manages time wisely, and always finishes lessons with something that segues into the next lesson and the next set of skills to work towards. He is also able to do that very well with two kids who are of different ages and different relative levels. While Coach Devin is systematic and has a clear plan for each session, he is also very flexible and always finds a way to combine his plan with any special requests (like "can we spend some time on passing skills"). Coach Devin is also very friendly and patient, and kids just love working with him. We look forward to continuing working with Coach Devin, he is a great coach.
