More About Coach Derek

I have coached several different groups of athletes ranging from football, soccer, softball, basketball. I have been a Fitness coach for about 4 years. A big part of my target is to coach youth to help them as them grow. Many kids have skills to play sports, yet lack skills to do a squat of pushup the right way. I have worked on my own as a trainer. Ages are from 7-18 years old. I hold a certification from the American Council on Exercise.

I played basketball most of my time growing up. I also played soccer, football and baseball some. Then I started to focus on basketball more. I didn't compete in college or professional level. My biggest reason for creating my company is so kids can train the right way to help them in life and in sports.

Start of a typical session with me is a 10 minute dynamic warmup. I program warmup to do drills that are preparing the body for what we are going to do in that session. When starting out I focus on core movements and then progress to adding load. I also use an assessment tool that is leading the world in how to target imbalances and correct them. Injury prevention is also a huge piece of what I cover.

WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT A WORKOUT THAT LEFT ME FEELING THE BURN FOR DAYS WOULD HAVE BEEN FAMILY FUN AT THE SAME TIME!! Derek’s ability to train my husband and I at the same time that he trained my 10, 13, and 21 year old kids is amazing. My 10 year old plays baseball and football competitively, and my 13 year old plays basketball competitively. He was able to give them drills to enhance the skills they need for each of their sports and at the same time my 21 year old, my husband, and I worked on things that were fun. It was totally different than the boring gym classes that I have taken. I totally recommend having Derek create a workout for an individual or a family! Derek is honest and really cares what you are looking to achieve. His passion shows from the customized programs he provides. Derek gets along well with the team and they all look forward to training with him. The body awareness and control of the team in running has improved a ton. A few of the player’s parents have mentioned their daughters have worked with some other fitness trainers and didn’t like it much. They look forward to training with Derek. When Derek has attended some of their games the girls have asked if we were going to workout. Another parent said his daughter loves the program and is getting better. Derek challenges the girls to push themselves as a team, but allows them to be successful in what he wants them to accomplish.
