More About Coach Dennis

My running career started my Freshman year of high school at Malden Catholic in 2003. I never had much running experience, but I wanted to get faster for the upcoming football season. Fortunately for my running career, after I experienced the rush of a first place finish on the track, I never played another down of football.

After just two short seasons of running, I began taking first place finishes in the 100 meter, 200 meter, 400 meter and 4x400 meter relay races.

In my Senior year, I became the Captain of my team- an honor that I worked very hard for and am deeply proud of.

After High School, I went on to college and began training for the Boston Marathon. Crossing the finish line of my first Boston Marathon in 2008 was a feeling of pure ecstasy, and I immediately signed up for another marathon in Chicago.

After college, running became a form of training AND competition for me after I thought my competition days were over. I have completed 5 marathons and continue to train for endurance races to this day.

I have competed in both sprinting distance and long distance events ranging from the 100 meter dash to the 26.2 mile marathons, and currently train anyone interested in any form and distance of running.

Whether my athletes just want to run to get in shape, compete in local 5K races or run a marathon, I am excited to help them achieve their goals.

Regardless of their experience or fitness level, I'd be honored to be their coach.

Each session begins with 10-15 minutes of a dynamic warmup and some stretching. I will walk the athletes through each movement and assure their muscles are prepped for our workout.

The second part of the session includes a strength component. This will last anywhere from 10-20 minutes and may include movements such as Olympic lifting, power lifting, rope climbing, and weighted pull-ups.

Lastly, we will end the session with a conditioning component which will be anywhere from 5-20 minutes.
This portion of the session is meant to be short and fast. We're looking for intensity!

Throughout the whole session my main concern is safety and efficiency. At any point, if I feel my athletes are in a position where they may injure themselves, I will stop them from doing the movement immediately and reassess the weight or the movement itself.

At the end of class I encourage my athletes to take another 5-10 minutes and stretch out with a foam roller to massage their muscles.

Client Reviews

I had a great workout with Dennis. He explained the movements and form, corrected me when I needed it and importantly pushed me to work really hard. Hardest workout of my life.

Although I have very little experience with running and had some apprehension about how to go about my training, Coach Dennis was very understanding and willing to help. After just one session, I feel like my form is improving, and I'm excited for our future sessions together.

I highly recommend Dennis as a Coach to anyone who is looking for a fun, caring and capable trainer- even if you're new to the sport!

Thanks, Coach!

I appreciate the different techniques Coach Dennis brought to our sessions and the methods he's teaching me to better myself.
