More About Coach Darren

I have a masters degree in Exercise Science and I am currently a NSCA certified strength and conditioning specialist (C.S.C.S). I have years of experience training college athletes of all levels. I have worked with division 1, 2 and 3 athletes in Angelo State University, St. John's University, Columbia University, Iona College and East Stroudsburg University. The different sports teams I have worked with include: Men and women basketball, men and women soccer, wrestling, track and field, swimming and diving, crew, football, fencing, tennis, golf, water polo, volleyball, softball, baseball and cross country. I work with all age groups and experience levels (from novice to elite).

I was a part of the University of Buffalo Boxing Club during my undergraduate career and the Angelo State University Powerlifting Club during my graduate career.

The first session is more of an evaluation/assessment to see where you are, training experience. Based off of your experience, this may include V02 submax or max testing, general body assessment, repeated sprint protocol, squatting technique, bench pressing technique, injury analysis and/ or Olympic lift techniques (based off sport). After the initial assessment is completed, the following session will be our first official workout. Very high energy, strict technique (proper form is a must before progression to ensure an injury free season), exercises incorporated into your customized program to promote injury prevention, focused attention on muscle imbalances and nutrition guidance. A typical workout will always start with a thorough warm up that will progress in intensity and lead us into our workout. Through the workout being focused is a must and proper technique will be analyzed and critiqued. Major heavy exercises (multi joint) will always begin the workout because of its high energy demands and lighter or accessory exercises will close out the workout. Both strength and conditioning workouts may be incorporated together or on separate days.
