More About Coach Daniel

My training journey started in 2013 when I began teaching the fundamentals to grade school children. That led to coordinating and running youth basketball camps during the summers. Through the years I have trained pros, semi-pro, international, collegiate and high school players.

I played high school basketball in Michigan at Grand Rapids Union, where I was All-Conference (2X) , All-Area (2X) , Detroit Free Press All-State Honorable mention (2X), and the Grand Rapids City league leading scoring for two years ( Junior year- 18.2 points & Senior year - 18.9 points). I also played two years of collegiate basketball in Michigan at Kalamazoo Valley Community College where I was First Team All-Conference and averaged 16.9 points and 4.8 rebounds . I was 7th in the nation (NJCAA) in free throw percentage (85%) and played in the NJCAA All-Star game.

I first like to speak with the client to get a feel of the players strengths and weaknesses. I ask the player what he/she would like to improve most and I make those things the focus in my workouts. I also incorporate drills that will work on the players all-around game, but the focus would be on whatever that player's weaknesses are. During a workout I pay close attention to the player to see if I can find what I believe are the player's strengths and weaknesses, and at the end I like to get feedback from the player and also share my thoughts on the workout.

Thanks for being patient with Cayden!

My son has been taking few sessions with Coach Gay in the last couple of months, which has made a huge difference in his defensive and offensive skills, especially ball handling and shooting. Coach Gay is an excellent basketball coach who is very professional and manages every bit of the session efficiently without wasting any time.
Coach Gay encourages and pushes Ian in every way to try his best. We really appreciate him for that.
I recommend Coach Gay to any parent that may be interested in their child being taken to that next level of basketball. It's made a huge difference in our 8 yr old son.

Our daughter’s confidence and skill set has improved greatly since beginning training sessions with Coach Daniel. My husband and I are pleased with the results of the individualized training sessions. We are pleased with Coach Daniel’s knowledge of the game, timely responses, and professionalism.

Coach Daniel is an excellent coach, probably one of the best coaches in this area. My son has been training with him for a few months now and has learned so much. Daniel has a unique basketball mind and knows what it takes to take your child to the next level. He’s very patient and understanding which is so great about him. I highly recommend his training, you definitely won’t be disappointed!!

Coach was GREAT with my son! He is a bit shy, but Coach helped him bring out his personality off and on the court. He worked on different drills and also incorporated other players. It forced him to be more sociable and play harder. I highly recommend Coach Gay for any child that struggles with their confidence and at any age!

Awesome trainer!!! He's all my son talks about. I love the drills and the way he pushes my son to have confidence.Im ready for more sessions.

Coach Daniel helped me out so much. He noticed flaws in my ball handling and gave me drills to do on my own as well as during the session. He was very focused and determined to make me a better overall basketball player. I appreciate that very much. He is a great trainer! I will book again!

Coach Daniel, was very efficient, and, knowledgeable. I was very impressed and pleased with his session.. Coach Daniel was easy to work with, and brought a level of confidence and reality to my step son... the only issue I had was my work schedule didnt allow us to get more time and sessions in... I highly recommend Coach Daniel!

Great coach, he knows the game and makes it easy for you to understand. He is also great at getting you to utilize your strengths and improving you on your weaker areas of the game.

Coach Daniel was a great coach! He was on time and ready to go. His drills were precise and on point. I definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a private basketball coach for their child.

Great efficiency. Really saw difference in my sons game. From tendencies, ball handling, and even his basketball I.Q. I recommended coach Daniel for anyone. My son loves his training and we will be having more sessions!

My son has completed five sessions and I'm very pleased. I appreciate the follow-ups and the practice drills that he assigns. We look forward to the next five sessions!

Coach Daniel is great. This was our first session. He was on time (early actually) and he introduced himself and then got right to work. He had my daughter feeling comfortable with him in no time. He worked her hard and gave her some things to work on until our next session. She liked that he told her what he saw that was not good and told her how to correct it. He was very positive and encouraging. We can't wait for our next session!

Daniel was a great player for me. Excellent shooter and fundamentally sound. He listened and was very coachable. He has a very high basketball IQ. He really knows the game. He may turn out to be a better coach than he was a player. I know he will be a great asset to the CoachUp family.
