More About Coach Dalton

I'm 27 and have been coaching since 17. I have given lessons to throwers of all ages, from 8-20 years old to a gentleman training for the Masters. I was the Bishop Kelly high school (Idaho) throws coach for a season, and I was the Boise State throws coach for a semester in 2018. I have worked with athletes that have gone on to compete for universities such as: Navy, Northern Idaho, Kent State, Texas, and Texas A&M. Of the two most successful throwers I have given lessons to: one went on to be a professional discus thrower, and the other went to Texas on full scholarship. most of the athletes I've worked with for a long period of time earn at least partial scholarship with their marks. I am still in good enough shape to throw 200ft with a 1.6k discus, I throw in practice to help with the learning experience.

I'm a 3-time all-American from Texas A&M, where my highest placement at the NCAA championship meet was 7th place in 2013. The highlight of my career was going to the World Junior Olympics for 19 & under where I placed 7th.
High school Best: 198ft (1.6k) 2011
International Best: 201ft (1.75k) 2012
College best: 196ft (2k)2013

the sessions are based on your endurance. we train until 2 to 2 1/2 hours has passed or the athlete gets tired. we start with a proper jog, mild stretch, and footwork drills to get started. at this point the lesson will be tailored based on how advanced they are. early on we will learn numerous drills and motions for technique practice, drills will always be the #1 go-to improving our technique and distance. these drills you will focus on at home. in a typical practice, after we have progressed through the full spin in broken down steps, we will ease into the full throw. by the end of practice we have figured out what needs work at home, and we will have had many full throws. tripod and camera use is encouraged for the rapid development of your technique.

Client Reviews

Coach Dalton was great! After one session my two throwers understood the mechanics of the complete spin throw for discus. They just need to practice to perfect it now. We would definitely recommend him.
