More About Coach Clay
I have experience helping train middle school and high school quarterbacks in my hometown of Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. I worked alongside my quarterback trainer, Jordan Franks, assisting with individual and small-group training sessions. During these sessions, I helped athletes improve their throwing mechanics, footwork, pocket movement, and overall quarterback fundamentals.
Most of my coaching experience has been with middle school and high school athletes, and I enjoy helping younger players develop both their skills and confidence. As a current college football player, I also bring firsthand experience with the techniques, work ethic, and preparation needed to compete at a higher level.
While I do not currently hold any formal coaching certifications, I am committed to providing quality instruction and creating a positive, encouraging environment where athletes can improve and reach their goals.
Throughout my football career, I have earned several accomplishments that reflect my dedication, leadership, and performance as a quarterback. At Beechwood High School in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, I passed for 8,879 career yards and 117 touchdown passes, making me one of the most productive quarterbacks in school history. I was the starting quarterback on two Kentucky state championship teams and also led Beechwood to a state semifinal appearance. I was named Kentucky 2A–4A Player of the Year during both my junior and senior seasons and earned District Player of the Year honors twice. During my varsity career, I completed over 73% of my passes while throwing just seven interceptions. I was selected to continue my football career at the University of Indianapolis, where I compete as a quarterback while pursuing a degree in Business Administration. Beyond playing, I have also helped train middle school and high school quarterbacks in my hometown by assisting quarterback trainer Jordan Frank, allowing me to develop leadership and coaching experience while giving back to younger athletes.
A typical session with me is designed to improve the fundamentals that make quarterbacks successful while also building confidence and consistency. Every workout starts with a dynamic warm-up and throwing progression to prepare the arm and body for the session.
From there, I focus on quarterback-specific fundamentals such as footwork, throwing mechanics, ball placement, pocket movement, and proper body positioning. Athletes can expect drills that improve dropbacks, quick releases, movement inside and outside the pocket, and accuracy on different types of throws. I also incorporate game-like situations so players can learn how to make better decisions while staying balanced and under control.
Throughout each session, I provide constant feedback and make adjustments based on the athlete’s age, skill level, and goals. Whether a player is just learning the position or preparing for varsity football, I emphasize attention to detail, repetition, and proper technique. My goal is not only to help athletes become better quarterbacks but also to teach the habits, discipline, and confidence needed to succeed on and off the field. As a current college quarterback, I bring firsthand knowledge of the techniques and standards required to compete at the next level.
