More About Coach Chris
Growing up in the Lehigh Valley, you can sum up my childhood in one word: active. If a sport was in-season, I wanted to play it. And if it wasn't, then I would find a way to play something else. As I entered High School, I competed in Football, Wrestling and Track & Field. I was a lettermen in all three sports every year in high school. I received all-area accolades as a high school quarterback, a wrestler, and was a part of a championship track & field team (primary event was the hurdles).
My experience with coaching began in 2007. I was 22 and missing competitive sports. Fortunately for me I had an older brother who was coaching wrestling and he took me on his staff. From there an opportunity coaching football arose and I jumped on it. And now, I am still coaching those two sports and loving every second of it.
In 2009 I finally pursued my passion in strength and conditioning. I graduated from college, became certified through the American College of Sports Medicine as a personal trainer and more recently, became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). I have experience working with hundreds of athletes. I have trained groups of high energy five year olds to collegiate athletes to 40-something marathon runners. The common theme between them was that they all got stronger and they all got better!
A typical session with me focuses on improving strength first and foremost. I believe that strength is the foundation for development of the rest of physical qualities. If you want to improve power, get stronger. If you want to be more agile, it helps to have the strength to decelerate and accelerate your body. If you want to improve speed, get stronger. It is that simple to me. The second part of the session is geared toward improving the fundamentals of movement. The goal is to get your strength and fundamental movement skills up to par before progressing.
I have experience in 1-on-1 private training, coaching teams, running camps or skill clinics.
