Coach Proctor or CP as we called him, is definitely my favorite coach I have had in any sport. He help me as a person and as an athlete. With Coach Proctor training I was able to win Two Solo State Champions, which I would of never thought I could do. Coach Proctor got me stronger and faster with his workouts. Trust the process"...there has been countless times I've heard this from coach proctor. I remember when he first came into my life my junior year and told me that he would sit at every basketball game front row if he had to so I would run for him and he kept his word. He held me accountable for every action and taught me to never be satisfied with my accomplishments always want more for myself. He taught me that when everyone is against you that's when you perform your best because nobody expects you to do anything and it kills them to see you do good in life. He wasn't just a coach but also a mentor that I could relate to and communicate with that I couldn't do with a lot of other coaches. He never changed up on us when we would show up to meets and people would judge us soon as we got off the bus. I can remember crossing the finish line at the state track meet and coach proctor was watching from the bleachers up top, he ran down to the track gave me a hug and looked me in the eyes and said I'm proud of you son this feeling is indescribable. I couldn't even get a word out I was speechless because I knew that he believe in me the whole time when all of the odds were against me. He always taught us as young men that whatever you do in life you strive to be the best at what you do no matter what it may be. He transformed not only my body but my mindset which was major. Every time I stepped foot on a track,basketball court, or football field I expected nothing but greatness from myself. He helped me in life in so many ways I could never repay him and gave me more than just state championship rings but more importantly memories that will last forever and that nobody can take from me. Life is bigger than track to him and he teaches you that he's not just a coach but more of a king training "young kings" as he called us. Thank you coach for everything I love you. - Ken Gathers ✊🏽
