More About Coach Cezar

I am a certified USATF level 2 coach with over 24 years of coaching experience, of which 14 years at college level with NCAA Division 1 and 2 cross country and track and field teams. Throughout my career I have been involved in athletic events such as sprints, hurdles, middle distance, high jump, javelin, hammer throw, discus, distance, steeplechase, half-marathon, and marathon.

In the past two years I have trained 2 female runners that were able to run the marathon under 3 hours:
2 h 57'36" and 2 h 59"12
One of my male runners ran the marathon in 2 h 22'15, the half marathon in 1 h 07 '37" and the 5K in 14'23.

For each new athlete I first determine his/her current level in regards to core strengths, biomechanics, motor skills, and level of fitness. At elite level, I first determine how dedicated they are to the sport, and then how hard they are willing to train in order to get to the next level.

Client Reviews

Coach Cezar is an incredible coach. He knows exactly how to teach and motivate my child. She is receiving coaching instruction that is world class and pushes her to her next new level. She is always eager to go and talks about the previous session until the next one. Coach Cezar has the experience and demeanor to work with students to make them the athlete they never knew they could be. Thank you so much, Coach! See you again soon!

Coach Cezar is an amazing coach. My daughter is a little shy, but he made her feel comfortable and confident immediately. He worked through fundamentals of appropriate warm up exercises, general training, as well as provided focus on the specific event (hurdles) that she was interested in. I could already see a distinct improvement in her skills by the end of session 1. His knowledge and passion for the sport is obvious. I would highly recommend Coach Cezar!

Rachel had a great session with Coach Cezar. She learned a lot and he is a patient instructor.

Very professional and cares about the student he is teaching.

Coach Cezar was great. My daughter left feeling excited about her session and talking about some subtle changes she needed to make in her technique. She is looking forward to her next session.

I came to Cezar as a middle aged adult with running goals but no background in athletics. He took his time assessing my ability and teaching the fundamentals and explained the road ahead. He seems to be a very capable coach with a lot of experience and takes a lot of pride in his athletes. I look forward to achieving my goals under his guidance.

I have worked with coach Terlea for over 4 years, and during this time I won the 2010 Little Rock Half Marathon in 1h 12 min, and I was the first Henderson State University student to compete at the NCAA Division 2 Cross Country Nationals in the history of the school. Coach Terlea has in depth knowledge about cross country and track and field. Whatever your event is, coach Terlea can help you to reach new performance levels, break your PRs and become passionate for the work you do.
[Tracy] Working with my coach, Cezar Terlea, has done wonders. He has been a huge help. I went from just running my weekly mileage with little to no speed work, to doing speed work, hills, fartleks, track workouts, tempos… you name it. My mileage hasn’t changed much, but I feel that the quality of my runs and workouts has definitely improved. It’s great to have someone to tell you what to run, someone to push you and hold you accountable. [Tracy] The year has started off pretty great. I’m super excited about my training, and the improvements I’m seeing in my race times. My ultimate goal was to run a sub 3 at Little Rock Marathon this year, and I missed that by 15 seconds. I have to say that was frustrating, but I still ran a PR by 7 minutes and came in 2nd place, so that was pretty awesome. Tracy's Marathon PR 2 h 57'36
I ran under Coach Terlea for three years. During those years Coach Terlea taught me a great deal about running in all its aspects. His depth of knowledge in running is unsurpassed by any other coach I have ever had. His dedication to each and every one of his athletes exceeds that which is required or even expected. This kind of care and respect for his athletes has helped me as I began coaching on the collegiate level. Coach Terlea has been more than a coach he has been a friend and a mentor with whom I greatly respect. I would consider myself fortunate to be able to run as one of his athletes again.
