More About Coach Britt
Yoga first found me in the form of my study abroad roommates. We practiced Surya Namaskar A on the manicured lawns of Luxembourg gardens, where dipped in joyous folly we overlooked the signs prohibiting trampling the grass and were curtly escorted off. It was an enchanting, playful introduction to practice that would prove a powerful ally in my self development, mental health and understanding of the world.
The changes I have seen in myself since these early days have been remarkable. Through the guidance of many many saintly teachers my practice continues to open me up to my true self. It gleans understanding to my personal patterns, it shows me the roots of my impulses, the truth of my feelings + their transient nature. It has shown me where my boundaries lie, how to strengthen the ones that uplift me and how to remove the ones that inhibit me. It brings me back to myself when I stray, it reintroduces me to myself when I change.
It strengthens me. It softens me. It's home.
There is a home for you in your yoga too. I’ll help you read the blueprint of your body, find architectural alignment through the beauty of your bones, clean out the storage space of your muscles & joints, breathe a breath that keeps it structurally sound - embedded in calm - each moment, and hold space for you to get to know the experience that only you house.
I am here to be of service. Let's have some fun!
Eight years into my personal practice, I am now a 650hr experienced & certified yoga teacher.
My journey began with my 200hr teacher training three years ago at Yoga to the People. Here I learned the power of collective energy, how to speak & hold space for bodies of all shapes, sizes, colors, what an all accessible challenging class flows like and how to modify for injuries. With YTTP I also learned how to teach Hot Yoga in the tradition of Bikram. This practice showed me the power & magic of committing to a set sequence. In depth study of yoga anatomy, offering support in grueling environment, speaking more directly and timing postures down to the second.
50hrs with Kantonah Yoga Bowery taught me sacred geometry, recipes to help stabilize, reorient or create space in a person's body, and how to use props as extensions of tendons, ligaments, bones and joints to find each postures full potential. This was also my first introduction to building private classes, and incorporating Chinese medicine with yoga.
The Science of Self Yoga Teacher Training gave me my most recent 300hr training. Acupressure and incorporating awareness of the ancient Chinese meridian sciences with the wisdom of yoga to prepare group or private yoga sequence prescriptions was a main focus. Pranayama (breath control), meditation in both mantra and metta methods were incorporated as well.
I always start by getting to know my private clients! What is your movement background? Do you have any body trauma active or inactive? What are your goals? Physically/ Mentally/ Emotionally/ Spiritually? Bases on this initial feedback I will come up with a sequence incorporating breath work, meditation, and of course asana. I can be as hands-on in terms of adjustments and offering acupressure as you are comfortable with. Overtime our focus can shift as your experience as a student transforms.
All yoga is good yoga. Be it restorative, yin, flexibility based, strengthening, hatha, vinyasa or otherwise. What ever is most useful to your personal development will be our focus.

Lo S. (Testimonial)
You are so aware of the human body and mind, and you pass that on to your students. It was the first time in a while that I was honestly able to shut my mind off for an entire hour and re connect with my body. I thank you for that!
