More About Coach Brendan

Private School Cross Country Head coach & Track Assistant Coach since November 2010. I've completed USATF Level 1 Coaching training (21+ hour course).

Counselor at a running camp each August, a week-long co-ed session for high school runners of all levels and distances, which involves running with a group, leading workshops on race strategy, team building, and preparedness.

In High School at St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia, I was part of the 4x800m relay & Sprint Medley Relay that achieved All-American status at the Nike Nationals Indoor Championship in March 2001; I went on to run Division I Cross Country & Track at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, where I was named Captain my senior season. I ran the 800m on the Distance Medley Relay team in 2003 that received All New England accolades; I received Patriot League Runner of the Week Award during Cross Country 2004. Post-collegiate, I decided to focus on longer events, and have dropped my half marathon PR by almost seven minutes and marathon PR by over 20 minutes. Winning relay team member at multiple local races (Lake Winnie Relay, Hyannis Half Marathon Relay, 24 Hour Relay, 26x1 Mile Relay) & a number of individual races as well.

Coaching sessions will begin with light stretching & warmup. For the first workout, we'll go on a conversational pace run (you set the pace) where we can talk about current fitness levels & assess your form and simple things we can work on.

Aspiring runner, but no sort of direction yet?
No problem! Running is a sport that anyone can pick up.

Recreational runner, but want to do something more?
We can talk about your current mileage levels & any tempo / speedwork that the athlete is currently doing. I'd love to hear any goals - whether it be a time or a certain race - so we can work together to shape a plan to achieve them!

My coaching philosophy revolves around the idea of consistent weekly mileage. We can put together a plan for you going forward, and the following workouts will depend on the athlete's schedule. They will vary from a long run / tempo / track / hill workout.

Some runners may choose to meet less often (once a month / every few weeks) to formulate a new week to week plan. I'm flexible.
