More About Coach Brandi

For almost ten years, I’ve been practicing yoga (Hatha, Vinyasa, and Power) independently, and studying body movement, such as, Rasaboxes (mind, body, breathing, and voice training) at NYU’s East Coast Artists Performance Studies workshop. As a devoted yogi and practicing Mahayana Buddhist, I’ve found working with yoga, in conjunction with meditation, has huge health benefits.

Along with my daily yoga routine, I do strength train, and play basketball.

In April of 2011, I had the pleasure of training with Lex Gillan in pursuit of my yoga teacher training and national certification. My goal is to use my passion for meditation, yoga, physical fitness by teaching what I’ve learned and gained from utilizing physical fitness to increase an individual’s overall well being. As with any physical practice, (as I do share with my students) the emotional journey is just as important to your overall sense of well being as the increase physical strength, flexibility, and endurance.

My goal is to use asanas (poses) and meditation to provide a healing overall mind and body experience. My intent is ensuring all students learn proper form, alignment in relationship to proper breathing with each pose and exercise. In addition, performing any physical activity requires discipline, focus, support, and overall mind and body awareness in achieving your personal goals.

With all my students, learning pranayama harnesses all the necessary energy needed to execute movements for much deeper practice. From the moment you step off the mat, I want all my students to feel that they can translate that overwhelming feeling of spiritual and physical vitality to other aspects of life. As with any practice, yoga is a journey that never ends, you’re constantly deepening, discovering who you are with each new day.

Typically, our first meeting will involve discussing your physical limitations and goals. After, we will prepare sessions designed for your practice level. This approach maximizes your ability to thoroughly understand your independent strengths, weaknesses, and challenges.
All one-on-one sessions begin with brief inward reflection: guiding you through meditation accompanied with basic breathing practice to even the mind and body.

After aligning the mind, body and breathe through the meditation. Then, I will take you through the day’s asanas (poses), which are tailored for you on bi-weekly basis. It’s important that all my students take the time and practice. Through practice each student discovers his or her physical limitations and strengths.

Client Reviews

Booked the 10-session package with Brandi and was super happy with our time together! My strength and balance improved immensely over that time. Had she not moved, I would have rebooked! Definitely recommend :)

Coach Brandi is fantastic! I highly recommend her. Each session, she pushes and encourages the best effort from her clients, but it never feels like a struggle. We have improved beyond recognition and look forward to each session.

I found Brandi to be an excellent Yoga instructor. She was able to teach people of all ranges of experience in the group being patient with those beginners and pushing those people who needed to be motivated to step up to the next level when she knew they were ready. She also did a great job of bonding with the Yoga group and people would clearly look forward to the session. Brandi definitely has a great knowledge of Yoga and is always able to make the sessions fun with great variety. Excellent Job!

Brandi is great! Her classes include an amazing balance of strengthening, stretching, relaxation and pushing your personal limits. I always feel very rejuvenated after her classes! She is great at adjusting your poses to make sure you learn how to maximize each pose and reap the benefits of each posture. Brandi has a perfect balance of what I look for in a yoga teacher. She has a very powerful, yet gentle and authentic presence. Her style of vinyasa flow is perfectly paced, with clear instruction and just the right amount of yoga wisdom woven in.
I’ve worked with Brandi La Zard for over a year in studio classes and in private sessions in my home. I’m 66 and am challenged by returning to yoga after a 15 year hiatus. I find Brandi to be a clear and generous voice of yoga. She is a beautiful practitioner who effortlessly and unselfconsciously falls into asanas. But also she is a thoughtful, observant and knowledgeable teacher. In this she is authentic, defaulting into the Eastern names of poses and always with mesmerizing yoga music as a backdrop. All of this is imbued with gentle and playful enthusiasm.
