More About Coach Ben

I currently give private lessons at the Wilson Aquatic Center to all ages and skill levels, whether it is a 5 year old phenom, a 45 year old overcoming their fear of water and everyone in-between, I am happy when my athletes reach their goals.

I was a member of the division 1 varsity swim team at Towson University and was named team captain as a sophomore. I was named Athlete of the Week for the Colonial Athletic Association and finished 2nd at our Conference Championship Meet in the 500 yd freestyle with a time of 4:34.

A typical session with me would begin with the athlete warming up while I observed. We would then break down the athletes stroke and practice several drills to isolate each part of the stroke. By the end of the first session we will have worked on drills to reinforce proper breathing technique and break down each part of the stroke (entry, catch, finish and recovery). Depending on the athletes conditioning level, I would work in some interval training to incorporate the drills with regular swimming.

Client Reviews

Coach Ben was fantastic. My daughter was a timid swimmer and Ben transformed her into a confident swimmer. At age 24, she was a bit hesitant to take lessons but Ben was so enthusiastic she actually looked forward to the lessons. Ben's follow up emails were thorough and encouraging and showed his passion for teaching and swimming. The whole experience was positive and his skill at teaching and coach was phenomenal. Thank you Ben!

Ben was amazing! Responsive, punctual, and easy to communicate with. Very observant -- game me some great pointers to work on my stroke. And his skill in the water is really impressive. As I was swimming across the pool, there is Ben watching me -- at the bottom of the pool! He's half coach, half fish. Highly recommended!

Coach Ben is awesome! He made me feel comfortable in the water after only one class! It's great that he swims WITH me so that he can see what needs to be corrected.

Fantastic experience! Ben, apart from being a very cool guy, he's a fantastic coach. He's very knowledgeable and flexible with his drills. He quickly identified the areas that I needed to work on and taught me several exercises that really helped me to achieve progress. He was always more than willing to provide feedback and constructive comments on every detail, apart from being very patient when I had to do a particular drill several times to nail it properly. He also listen to your comments and questions, and keeps you motivated during the entire time in the water. What I liked and value the most is that he was all the time next to me in the water checking every single detail and giving prompt feedback and tips to correct my technique. He also provided very thorough written feedback after each session. If you are looking for a great coach with lots of knowledge to share, as well as a very positive and super cool attitude, then coach Ben is your best bet. Looking forward to scheduling more classes soon.

I am enjoying the personal time and attention Coach Ben is providing me. He keeps the sessions exciting and gives great feedback and instructions on what to do on my own to improve. So far, this has been one of the best investments toward my goal of completing my first Triathlon.

Coach Ben is great! He is very patient and supportive. His thoughtful approach to teaching facilitates learning. I would highly recommend Coach Ben to anyone wishing to improve his/her skills in a positive learning environment. John C.

The man! I almost want to give him a bad review just so he doesn't get overbooked and still has time for me. But seriously great coach. Encouraging and knowledgeable.

Ben was very patient and caring with my dad. He let my dad swim at his own pace and made him feel comfortable and secure. My dad had West Nile virus and had to learn everything all over again. He loves swimming and I am confident that Ben will bring him back to the level of swimming that he once had!!

He is really a nice coach. He helped me improve my swimming a lot!

Ben was punctual, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable and helpful. This being my first true swim lesson ever, Ben had to overcome some of my anxiety and bad habits. Ben was very patient and calm in his teaching yet pushed me at the right pace. Mostly, Ben was very positive and provided extremely helpful feedback through instruction and demonstration. I strongly recommend Ben in pursuit of your swimming goals.
