More About Coach Andrew
A Penn State kinesiology degree gives me the knowledge to get my foot in the door, but it is my true understanding of people, both physically and mentally, that produces results that are far from the industry standard. More or less anyone can become a "certified" trainer, but it takes far more than passing a few online questions to produce exceptional results with people of either gender, any age, and no matter their sport specialty.
I utilize a standard philosophy for strength training, however it is implemented very differently depending on the client. Every session will focus on strength training. No matter your goal, all goals are based in having as much muscle (no, not bulk ladies!) as possible. The more muscle a person maintains, the more food they can eat, the more endurance they have, and the easier life, as well as sports, become. I have brought an ex-NFLer out of the elevator and onto the treadmill (potential double knee replacement, can now do wind sprints). I have added 25 mph to a teenager's fastball, simply by properly training the legs instead of just focusing on the arm. I have led clients with both types of Diabetes, away from insulin dependence.
I may be slightly more costly than the "average" trainer, but you must ask yourself: would you rather waste $60, or get results from $80? That $20 has an incredible value, and any client of mine will tell you a training commitment not only increases earning power now, but can eliminate the need for co-pays later.
I have been a trainer for almost a decade now, and have been an athlete for 18 years. I currently play semi-pro baseball. I walked back on the field 7 years after I last played, and registered 82 mph on my fastball, with no baseball "specific" training beforehand. I train myself the same as I train my clients: Soundly, smart, maintainable, and results-producing.
