More About Coach Andrew
I am a Coach for Swim Pasadena Club team as well as the Assistant Coach for Pasadena City College. I have been a group fitness instructor and Personal Trainer for two years with a NASM PT Certification. USA Swimming Coach Certified with CPR, AED, and lifeguard training. I have worked with ages 3 and up in all levels of the sport in and out of the pool for over 5 years.
I qualified for Junior and Senior Nationals in High School (2009-2011) and hold multiple school records for my high school still. I was 1.5 seconds from qualifying for Olympic Trials in the 400 meter freestyle in summer 2011 and 9 seconds off the 1500 meter freestyle in 2016. I swam for UC Santa Barbara a NCAA Division I school as their top distance swimmer. At UCSB I received a BA in Sociology with four certificates in Personal Training, Group Fitness, Health & Wellness, and Sports Management. I received the Exercise Sport Studies Department's award for Excellence in Fitness Instruction upon graduation.
In the pool I focus on the athlete's weaknesses as well as their strengths. For the younger swimmer (ages 3-6) I make sure they become proficient in all 4 competitive swimming strokes using different progressions of each stroke as well as drills. The elementary age athlete I begin fine tuning their techniques with drills swimming sets, as well as out of the water training. Middle school and High School age athletes I focus on the strokes they are best at while still including the others. Stroke Specific dryland and resistance training along with correction and improvement of strokes in the pool during training. In my opinion and experience, cross training is vital to a swimmer's success even at this age, no matter the swimmer's goals.

Jerry and Anders (Testimonial)
Andrew has done an amazing job with our 6 year old son Joshua. Joshua had 8 swimming lessons with Andrew last summer and he went from being scared of the deep end to being able to swim all the way across the pool by himself! Andrew is very professional, knowledgeable, fun, organized, and patient. Joshua enjoyed the lessons very much and we plan to do more lessons with Andrew this summer!
