More About Coach Amanda

I am currently a USA Track & Field Level 2 Coach as well as ACSM Certified Personal Trainer. I am the founder and owner of Athletic Peak Nutrition & Performance, providing individualized nutrition to support both athletic goals and overall health. I have experience coaching and competing in each track and field event and have coached youth through master's athletes. I have been coaching since high school when I founded a track & field club for youth through high school-aged athletes in my hometown. I coached athletes to over 30 medals at USATF and New Balance Nationals, and while many athletes were participating in track & field for the first time, most went on to compete in college.

I am currently training post-collegiately with the semi-professional team Athletic Lab Track Club. I have trained for and competed in each event, and have won three international competitions and two world championships in the double heptathlon indoors (all 14 indoor track & field events in two days) and double decathlon outdoors (all 20 outdoor track & field events in two days), and had among the highest heptathlon and decathlon scores in the country. Previously, I competed for Rice University and was the Scholar Athlete of the Year my senior year.

Before beginning to work with an athlete, I take the time to speak with the athlete about their goals and training background, to ensure that the session plan and overarching training plan matches what the athlete values most.

Each session includes the following:
1) active dynamic warm-up involving a light aerobic warm-up to increase core body temperature, dynamic stretching to prepare the body for movement in many planes of motion, running drills to increase muscle elasticity and prepare for this specific movement pattern, and central nervous system priming, including build-ups and acceleration sprints
2) event technique work, depending upon the athletes' goals and best ways to continue improving
3) event rehearsal, again depending upon the athletes' goals and best ways to continue improving
4) specific strength training in order to complement the theme of the training session (such as a horizontal jumps circuit after acceleration sprints)
5) cool-down specific to the training session

Following each training session, I take notes on the session's activities and any cues worked on, so that the next session can continue to build upon the prior one, and to ensure cohesion in the overall training plan. I also send athletes a summary and any photos and videos of the training session, so that they have key takeaways to focus on.

Client Reviews

So thankful to have a knowledgable coach my daughter feels comfortable with!!

Amanda is very knowledgeable and supportive, and I had my best times ever and always enjoyed practicing.
Deepest gratitude to you for all of your support and dedication to track and field! My girls would not be where they are today without your help.
With dedication and patience, Amanda has taught my daughter track skills that have enabled her to achieve success at a state, and even national, level. Amanda is an excellent communicator and was able to explain and demonstrate complicated techniques and a way that made them easy for my daughter to understand. Amanda stays positive and patient and knows just how to bring out the best in my daughter. Equally important, Amanda cares deeply and teachers important life skills, such as balanced nutrition and injury prevention.
