More About Coach Amanda

I have been coaching for 6 years. I am certified as a running coach through the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) and as a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor through the American Counsel on Exercise (ACE). My coaching experience is with beginners, intermediate level, and those who want to walk long distance as well as run.

I have been a serious runner for over 9 years. I've completed 3 full marathons, 21 half marathons, 5 triathlons, and a plethora of other smaller distance races. I have won several age group medals in shorter distance races.

A typical running coach session with me includes dynamic stretches to warm up, a run that includes focus on good running form and cadence, followed by proper stretches to cool down. If the client desires, I also include speed drills to help them improve pace.

Great approach so far I’m amazed at my son’s progress.

Coach Amanda has been a great coach thus far. Her assistance with run and strength training is helping me develop from doing nothing during quarantine to improving my physical strength and becoming a beginner runner. Everyone needs a strong person in their lives to keep them going. Being around a positive, powerful woman keeps me going. That's what Amanda is. I decided to try a 5K out to see what all the fuss is about. After a lot of questioning of myself and my abilities, I called Amanda up and told her I had taken the plunge and signed up for the Get Moving Tampa Bay 5K on May 22, 2016. Amanda knew I was nervous and immediately signed up to do it with me. She kept in touch with me weekly, making sure I was staying on track. That day Amanda was right next to me every step of the way, encouraging me to get up and go when I was so ready to throw in the towel. I was so proud of myself for having finished that race, and was so grateful to have my friend at my side.
I've never done a 5K or any type of competitive race before, but it was a personal goal to give it a try. I started training on my own. Despite some hopeful signs in the beginning, by two weeks in I was losing group on the progress that I had made and I was starting to experience joint pain. I reached out for help and Amanda came up with a training plan for me. Her plan provided the right balance of challenging training days balanced with rest and cross-training days. Thanks to her plan I was able to, in just a few short weeks, recover from my injuries while still continuing to progress in my speed and endurance. I completed my first 5K (pain free!) in 47 minutes, a time that far exceeded my expectations.
I had a great experience working with Amanda as a running coach. I was nervous because my experience running had been very limited, and Amanda made me feel very comfortable and encouraged from the start. Together we created a 15 week training plan. The plan was easy to stick to and not nearly as intimidating as I imagined. I successfully finished my first half marathon and received encouraging texts from Amanda throughout my training and the actual race day. I would highly recommend working with Amanda as a running coach if you have goals and you want some support to complete them and be accountable to someone throughout the process!
