More About Coach Alexander

“Our confidence comes from our preparation.” ~ Ronaldinho

As a former NCAA Final Four player who immediately transitioned into coaching, my initial opportunity to start coaching kicked in at a high level, as I first served as an assistant coach at my alma mater, Ohio Wesleyan University, upon graduating.

I then moved back to CT and was formerly the Head Coach at Southern Connecticut State University, while also coaching at the middle school level & lower school levels for three years in Westport at Greens Farms Academy. I then moved on to Weston High School, where I worked hard as a member of the Trojans coaching staff for three years, before recently becoming a Director for Gamebreaker Lacrosse. I also proudly serve as the Head Coach for the Connecticut Dragons. In addition, I coach kids of all ages at the Fairfield Sportsplex.

Over the years, I've been fortunate to serve as a staff member at numerous camps, working hard with both girls and boys - spanning from the kindergarten level all the way to the collegiate ranks. I truly enjoy working with kids begin at different starting points and skill levels, with different end goals at heart. Establishing goals thru motivational tactics, and keeping them focused and upbeat is a true passion of mine. Whether it's someone brand new to the sport, or someone brimming with confidence who wants to take a huge next step to the next level, the whole array of skill sets and starting points motivates me on a daily basis. I also enjoy helping with several volunteer youth clinics. CPR and First-Aid certified, I am also a certified Coach in CT.

*I currently instruct student athletes spanning from second grade up to college - on an individual basis. As a former offensive player who later converted to defense, I truly understand all facets of the game and am equally confident coaching any position - including goalies - who I currently work with as well.

I take great pride and joy in honing in on what can push a player to a level yet to be reached - utilizing one's greatest strengths while working hard to build confidence in all other areas. I always preach the importance of the never-ending quest to maximize one's potential, all while having fun and maintaining a passionate and upbeat mindset.

Confidence in one's self, an unwavering work ethic, and the ability to recognize that no obstacle is insurmountable are a few keys I emphasize to those I am fortunate enough to work with in this great sport.

After playing for Fairfield Prep and Greens Farms Academy in High School, I played at Ohio Wesleyan University, where our program reached tremendous heights, earning a pair of NCAA Final Four appearances, garnering three conference championships, and securing four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances in my time there. I worked extremely hard to garner all-conference collegiate honors twice during my time in The Buckeye State.

My work ethic was taken to an entirely new level thanks to the guidance of Head Coach Lelan Rogers - who now coaches at Syracuse University - as I started on campus as one of over 80 players and went on to earn All-Conference Honors in both my junior and senior seasons, before staying on campus following graduation to serve as an Assistant Coach for one final campaign.

Once I graduated and stayed on campus to coach one more year, I recognized my unwavering passion for what I currently do: share all that I've learned - from tremendous coaches and fellow players - about what it takes to make strides every single day - both big and small - with kids of all ages.

Whether your daughter or son has never picked up a lacrosse stick in their life, or if they are experienced and seeking the guidance to propel their game to an entirely new level, I am equally motivated to deliver in helping to maximize their potential every single time we meet.

“Create an environment where champions are inevitable.” ~ Vern Gambetta

First off, I want students of all ages - and any skill level - always having fun and building their confidence, while learning to embrace the endless benefits of hard work. My driving motivation is to push players to new heights, so we can run thru drills literally in tandem. I always make sure our sessions are engaging, full of learning, and constant progression, because at the end of the day, you get what you give.

As an offensive midfielder who later transitioned to Defense & LSM, I understand and appreciate all areas of the game, so a typical session will cater to the age, skill level, and desired lacrosse position of the participant. In a typical session, an array of crucial aspects - both from a lacrosse standpoint as well as a fitness and educational standpoint - will be featured.

*** I currently train short sticks, defenders, and a goalie as well. From a second grader to a collegiate player, my clients have a wide array of skill levels, goals, and requests each and every time we meet. I am always introducing new drills, listening to my players, and truly making the most of the allotted time we have together in action.

Everything from stick skills to footwork, positioning to lacrosse principles, will be a focal point for those I work with. A normal session can consist of position-specific lacrosse drills, from basic stick work to discussing different scenarios, along with agility drills. The bottom line is unwavering development; always eager to become better than you were yesterday.

As a player progresses and begins to realize one's true potential, the confidence gained is truly a sight to behold.

And in the immortal words of legendary coach John Wooden, "confidence comes from being prepared."

Great coach. We are new to the goalie position and Coach Alex immediately began to show us techniques that helped improve skills.

Great first session with coach Alex. He is a positive motivator, with excellent goalie drills for my sons skill level. This was a great learning environment with plenty of positive reinforcement.

I would highly recommend taking sessions with Coach Alex! He was very professional, extremely knowledgeable on lacrosse and we learned many skills in a short time. Looking forward to working with him again!

I decided to seek out a private lacrosse coach to support my sons' dedication to playing lacrosse at the elite level for several summer tryouts. I contacted Coach Alex to let him know what we were looking for from our sessions, and he got back to me the same day. Coach Alex asked great questions about my sons' strengths & weaknesses and was able to put together a plan to help them compete at the highest possible level. Alex's coaching style was very friendly, and he easily connected with my boys. Coach Alex provided clear instructions and positive reinforcement to help my sons improve with every session. Don't get me wrong, given my boys' goals, Coach Alex's drills were very intense. My sons stated they were far more challenging than any tryout, game or tournament they ever played. I observed clear improvements in my son's level of play and competitiveness in games even after the first session. Although I know there are multiple sessions available, I highly recommend going for the longer sessions. I noticed the lessons tend to ramp up after the first hour and going the extra ½ hour+ makes all the difference to ensure their gains are locked in. I am very thankful that we found Coach Alex to prepare my sons for summer lacrosse tryouts and I'm certain he was the best coach we could have chosen. I HIGHLY recommend Coach Alex for private lacrosse training. You will be glad you did it.

Coach Wiser is a knowledgeable, energetic and widely respected coach. He always pushes his players to achieve their maximum potential. Through his vast knowledge of drills and upbeat attitude, the team is kept in a constant state of engagement and growth as both players and men. He is a highly approachable coach who connects with his players to enhance their development, and he contributed greatly to the expansion of my skills and my lacrosse I.Q. Alex's commitment and dedication to getting the job done was evident at Ohio Wesleyan. On and off the field, Alex was a great leader and a very passionate individual. To this day, Alex remains committed and excited about helping people and getting the job done right. -Bob Dociato - former teammate at Ohio Wesleyan - certified youth coach and referee - Columbus, OH
It's been a pleasure to get to know Alex while coaching together at Weston. A truly motivational coach - yet also keen on the skills and characteristics necessary to build both a competitive team and a driven individual - he emphasizes hard work and the importance of team. A former standout collegiate player who truly went "all out" every time he took the field, it certainly shows in the way he approaches building up all the kids he works with. I would undoubtedly recommend Alex as a lacrosse coach at any level. John Threshie Jr. -Westport Youth Head Coach -North Carolina Defense, Final Four Participant -Weston D-Coordinator
