I am a very detail oriented person/coach who strives to learn new and modern ways to train athletes, but also applies methods which are conservative.

Typically, I want to get to know the athlete first. I need to find out what kind of person she/he is, what is his physical history, current health and what are some problems, which might prevent her/him from doing certain exercises.
Depending on what my athletes are looking for, I offer a variety of services, including on ice skills development, video analysis, traveling to athletes games for evaluation and suggestions. I also offer off-ice conditioning if desired.

I offer a complete education on nutritional habits, which are proved to increase an athletes potential and performance. I provide tools for athletes to work on some areas individually as well ( research, referrals etc.)

As far as a training session, depending on the needs and/or level, I do not go over 1 hour per session. On ice, I start with a dynamic warm up consisting of puck movement and skating. Than I work on edges, stick-handling, shooting and game specific drills. All on ice sessions I do are prepared in a progressive manner. Depending on the level and confidence level of my athletes, I start with basic drills and move into more complex ones.
If off ice drills and training is desired I start with a dynamic warm up for about 10-15 minutes, to prevent in training injuries. Than I train the athlete for about 40-45 minutes maximum, but with intensity and dynamic intervals. We finish the session with a 15-20 minutes static stretch and all body relaxation. The actual structure of the training depends on where the athlete is, wants to be and where he possibly can be. For a hockey player, I will work all areas of his over all athleticism, which is hockey specific (speed, agility, strength, balance, flexibility, stamina, focus).

Focus will be made on lower body, core stability and explosiveness.

Coach Alexander did a great job with my 17 year old son. Very focused session and great feedback for focus toward improving his skills.

Coach Alex is excellent at pushing skaters to the edge of their comfort zone where they can improve their skills & conditioning. Our daughter looks forward to sessions with Coach Alex!

The work out for my som was very good. Coach worked him really hard for an hour! It was a little challenging at times due to his young son being on the ice as well but we worked around it

A five star coach for sure !

I would recommend Alex to anyone who’s child is willing to put the work in.

His drills are great and he is a very good communicator of expectations .

Alex is great with my Mite level player. He was encouraging but also corrected technique as needed. So many coaches let Mites get away with bad habits, but Alex did a great job explaining and demonstrating the right way to do something while being positive. He also ran great drills that apply directly to gameplay. We have signed up for another couple of lessons! Highly recommended.

Awesome! Very helpful and accommodating

We would recommend coach Alex to anyone looking to work hard and perfect their skills. He never just stands there and instructs the player, he is actively on the ice with the player doing exactly what he is asking the player to do and modifies the training to each players need while still making it challenging and fun!

Coach Alexander was excellent. He had me do a few drills then showed me what I needed to fix and work on. He did nothing but encouraged me to push myself to my full potential.

Coach Alex has far exceeded my expectations,
I asked Coach Alex to help my U14 daughter with her sticking handling, passing, shooting and maneuvering with the puck. After 5 lessons she is playing with much confidence. Carrying the puck through traffic, positioning herself properly to start breakouts. I cannot say enough about the positive influence Coach Alex has had on my daughters game.

Amazingly talented. Able to quickly identify issues with my son’s mechanics (body position, stick position, skate usage) and give him the feedback he needs to improve as a hockey player.

Coach Alexander did a great job with my 10 year old son. Even my 8 year old who was watching was able to learn some good techniques and it showed in their games this weekend after just one lesson with Coach Alexander. Professional, provided active engagement and pointers on how to improve. We will definitely schedule more sessions and I would highly recommend Coach Alexander.

Coach Alex was very professional and worked very hard with training my boys for their first hockey session. He left a great impression on my boys as well as myself. I would highly recommend Alex. His expertise is very impressive and showed on the ice with the private lesson. We look forward to continuing our lessons with him.

Coach Alex was great with my son!

Fantastic with our son. So glad we've found him!

We only did one session with Alex but it was well worth it. It was great to have coach Alex in a one on one session on ice to work shooting and puck handling. He offered many tips and good direction to my daughter as to how to approach the net and shooting which she has never gotten before. We will defined be practicing with Alex again.

Alex was great and I highly recommend him. We have a 6 year old (Mac) who has been playing for a couple years. We wanted him to have 1:1 instruction after recently moving to New England. Alex provided the perfect combination of advanced guidance with understanding what the student needs and is ready for. He made the practice fun with precise instruction, encouragement, and good sport while pushing our little guy to try new skills. It was exactly what we needed. Mac was excited going into his normal practice to use what he learned from Alex. We know because he talked about it all night and the next morning. Alex knows the sport well and I recommend him for any age. We look forward to more sessions with him!

My boys really enjoyed him and said they felt like they had lots they could learn from him!

Coach Alex is an excellent fit for my son who already likes his very first lesson with Alex.

Awesome session

Very friendly and knowledgable. Great job connecting with my son

Alex is a great coach. He has worked with my PeeWee a few times over the last year. He is extremely knowledgeable, and you can see the difference he makes in just one session. I highly recommend him!

Coach Alex is truly one of those special coaches who not only has the knowledge and skill, but he knows how to get the best out of his athletes. My son looks forward to each session and leaves with a smile and covered in sweat! Coach Alex pushes him to develop fundamental skills and we have seen improvement transfer over to his game play.

Went very well. Coach Alexander fully prepared, no standing around, took time to explain drills, stopped + corrected where necessary, took time to speak with me afterwards, very clear answers to my questions.

From a 9 year old, "Coach Alex is wicked. He does amazing drills to help us get faster. He shows us how to do the drills the right way. He has us do hard drills to get us better at it. I love it. He makes it hard but it is fun".

Coach Alex did a great job with both of my boys in their first session. Both boys said they had fun and learned from the experience. Great job Alex!

Coach Alex did a great job with my 9 year old son. He helped him with his edge work and hand placement on his stick. Looking forward to working with him again.

Coach Alex is incredible. He is helping me get to the next level of my hockey game.

Great coach! The lessons are well thought out and he cares a lot about his clients! Great attention to detail.

Coach Alexander is a great coach. Today was my sons first session and he got in the car and said can we do that again? His training and techniques were challenging and on point for what skills we are trying to develop. Would highly recommend Alex to anyone looking to improve their ice hockey skills.

I had not used a private coach before and was not sure what to expect. I have a 15 year old son who was looking for some instruction over a 6 week period of time to prepare for High School team tryouts. Our experience with Alex has been outstanding. From my perspective as a parent - he was very informative, communicative and responsive during my "vetting" process to see if he was a proper fit. He was very easy to talk to and made himself available immediately to answer questions and make sure that I felt comfortable using him. For each of the sessions, Alex is prepared, ready at the appointed time and uses the full hour to get the maximum out of the time available. He also spent time after each session to provide feedback, answer questions and give additional advice. He had written feedback to my son after every session as well. I was most impressed with Alex proactively asking to come to my son's hockey game so that he could see my son play, video him and then spend time reviewing the game film with my son prior to his next on-ice session. I have been very impressed with Alex - he is a consummate professional who is a pleasure to work with.

From my son's perspective - he loves working with Alex! From the very first session, Alex had the perfect mix of challenging drills, clear instruction, instant feedback and a ready smile to help my son relax. The drills he had my son do reflected the conversations we had with Alex regarding what he most wanted to improve on. Alex pushed my son to work hard, not let up, constantly improve and challenge himself to do better. Alex also mixed in enough "playful banter" that put my son at ease and made him want to keep meeting each new challenge. My son has been eager and excited to go to each session, and is determined to improve on his skills and make Alex proud of him. After our last session with Alex, my son looked at me and said that he "really wants to keep using Alex, not just because he is a great coach, but also that I really like him and now consider him a friend". High praise indeed from a teenage boy.

I recommend Alex highly. You will not be disappointed.

Coach Alex was awesome. This was Brendan's first session with him and he put Brendan at ease right away. His drills were great. Brendan benefitted from the edge work, the shooting advice, and the smart pointers like keep skating instead of gliding before shooting in the slot. Brendan is really looking forward to his next session with Alex next week. We highly recommend Alex and Coach Up.

I have to say working with Coach Alex has been awesome. He has really helped me improve my game and become more confident as a player. He is very patient with you as your training, but that doesn't mean he's going to go easy on you. He pushes you to your limits when you train with him, but not so much so that you feel discouraged or frustrated, rather he helps you surpass your limitations and improve your game every time you practice with him. Also he is always available to you and you can call him, email him, or shoot him a text, and he will respond immediately. He is one of the best coaches, and role models, I have ever worked with and I plan to continue using his services to better my self, and my game.

My 11 year old son has been asking for more Hockey. I gave him the option of a hockey clinic or sessions with coachup. My son doesn’t like standing in lines at clinics and we are not sure the one size fits all approach of some clinic’s are a great value. After the first session with Alex we know we made the right decision. Alex customized the session to my son’s needs and was flexible with scheduling. My son was impressed with Alex’s in depth knowledge and enthusiasm for the game of hockey. My son was really excited about so many things, one example was that Alex made some adjustments that helped improved the accuracy and power of his shooting. My husband never played hockey and I suspect that minor adjustment from Alex saved my son countless hours of frustration in yard. Alex is great and we highly recommend his coaching.

Coach Alex is simply amazing. His way of teaching the skills of hockey are exceptional. We just completed 5 sessions and have signed up for another. 5. My grandson is 9 and I have seen a tremendous improvement in all facets of his game, stick handling, shooting, passing, and skating to name a few. I strongly recommend Alex to anyone interested in improving their hockey skills and reaching their full potential.

Alex has has a great passion not only to coach youth hockey, but also to continually try to improve his abilities to teach and coach the great game of hockey. Alex brings an ineffetious enthusiasm to the rink that brings out the best in his players. He has a great repore with his players and their parents. The players know they have a coach and a mentor for life.
Alex Molnar has been coaching our son for several years, and has helped him progress from a good youth hockey player to strong member of a top high school team. Alex has trained our son on the fundamentals of the game of hockey and the skills needed to play well. He has also provided exceptional personal strength training and diet that have given our son the strength that he needs to excel on the ice. Finally and most importantly, Alex has a great ability to motivate the players that he coaches. Hockey is a game that is played with intelligence, skill, passion and desire – Alex has them all and he instills them in the kids that he coaches!!
Alex personifies what a true “developmental” coach should be. His passion, knowledge, experience, and coaching style make for him to be a very strong candidate for anyone who truly wants to give this great game his “BEST SHOT
I have had the pleasure of coaching Alex as a player at the junior level. He was a high level athlete who's attention to detail made him a player who continually improved. He continues that approach as he moves up the coaching ranks. Alex is a very capable developer of talent and his use of multi-level training and coaching techniques puts him at the forefront of coaching the modern game. He stays in continual contact with his hockey network and his work ethic and effort are second to none. Mike Butters Former NHL Scout, AHL General Manager (Tampa Bay Lightning)
