More About Coach Ahimsa
Hello! I'm a former Junior All-American Heptathlete (which consists of 100 hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200m, long jump, javelin, and 800m) from Stanford University. I love coaching and helping students develop their athletic potential. I offer private and group coaching fundamentals and training sessions to students in the Houston area.
I am also a youth mentor in the community and offer academic and college prep consulting as well for students looking to prepare a compelling college application.
I was a Junior-All American at Stanford University and ranked in the top 10 all-time Stanford Heptathletes. I placed at Pac-10 Championships my Freshman and Sophomore year and was named the Peninsula Athlete of the year in 2003.
Depending on the athlete's focus, there are different drills or workouts that I'd recommend to improve speed, agility, and technique. For instance, I'd recommend box jumps and plyometrics for jumpers, reaction drills and hurdle pulls for sprinters, and various track workouts (up and down ladders: 100m, 200m, 300m, 400m, 300m, 200m, 100m) for sprinters and hurdlers. In addition, some weight training is recommended for athletes to begin building strength.

First session: We met with Coach Ahimsa to work on better technique and improvement. She is very easy to speak to and quickly established a rapport with my daughter. Within a 1 hr period she was able to see her current technique on shotput (good) & discus (not so great) and have her practice correct technique until she got the basics down. She also worked with her on getting the proper track warm-up for running and utilized training tools so she could learn how to do proper movement & technique for high jump. ...All in 1 hour!
I feel confident that we will see an improvement in future track event results in shotput, discus, and running with longer distance and shorter times.
Season review:
There were followup training sessions where consistency was maintained in working on technique. We plan on engaging with Coach Ahimsa next season, and taking first place honors instead of second place.

Coach Ahimsa is an excellent coach and great teacher. My daughter wants to try out for her high school track team for the shot put and discus. She had no knowledge of either. But, by the end of only our 1st session my daughter was familiar with the basics and felt comfortable in what she was doing. Coach Ahismsa is a very patient teacher and she has a great personality.
