More About Coach Yana
I have over six years of experience coaching tennis across various levels and age groups. I began coaching in 2018 in Granite Bay, CA, working with both individuals and groups. Since then, I have coached players ranging from young children to adults, tailoring lessons to fit different learning styles and skill levels.
In 2024, I worked at TNA Folsom Academy as a Private Coach, Hitting Coach, Fitness Coach, and Summer Kids Camp Coach. There, I developed and led training programs focused on technical skills, conditioning, and match strategy. I also collaborated with other staff to maintain a safe and productive environment for youth athletes.
Alongside academy coaching, I’ve offered private lessons through Lessons.com and TMT Coach since 2020, managing my own schedule and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
Most of my experience is with youth and recreational-level players, although I’ve worked with beginners through intermediate levels. I do not currently hold formal certifications but have trained under ATP pro Dmitry Tursunov at Gorin Tennis Academy and was formerly a top-ranked USTA junior in Northern California
I trained full-time at Gorin Tennis Academy from 2014 to 2016 under former ATP professional Dmitry Tursunov. During this time, I was sponsored by Wilson and Solinco and competed in USTA-sanctioned tournaments across Northern California and nationally.
I was the #1 ranked player in USTA NorCal Girls 12s and also held a top ranking in the Sacramento Area Tennis Association. My performance led to invitations to USTA National Training Camps at Stanford, where I trained alongside other top junior athletes.
When you train with me, you can expect a high-energy, personalized session that’s focused on helping you grow as a player — physically, technically, and mentally. Here’s what a typical session looks like:
1. Warm-up (10 minutes):
We always start with a dynamic warm-up to prevent injuries and get your body ready to perform at its best. This includes stretching, footwork drills (like ladder and cone work), sprints, and resistance band exercises. The goal is to activate your muscles properly and set the tone for a strong, injury-free session.
2. Technique and footwork drills:
We’ll dive into basket drills designed to sharpen your strokes and elevate your overall technique. Whether it’s your forehand, backhand, serve, or volleys, we’ll break things down and build them back up with perfect form, all while reinforcing proper footwork to improve speed, balance, and consistency.
3. Game building and strategy:
This is where we focus on your strengths, create a game plan, and learn how to use strategy to your advantage. You’ll learn how to construct points, play smarter, and compete with confidence — tailored to your unique style of play.
4. Mental toughness training:
We include pressure drills and focus exercises to help you stay calm, confident, and resilient during competition. Mental strength is just as important as physical skill, and we train both.
5. Cool down and take-home work:
Each session ends with a quick cool down and personalized feedback. You’ll leave with clear goals and specific assignments to work on before our next session — because real progress happens when you stay engaged on and off the court.
My goal is to make every session productive, motivating, and fun — helping you become the best version of yourself as a player.
