More About Coach Xavier

Zack Trimiew has been coaching basketball for over twenty five years. Zack is currently the head JV basketball coach at Hanover HS, and assistant varsity coach at Hanover HS. He is a graduate of Averett University, where he was a four-year starter on the men's basketball team. During his basketball career at Averett, Zack earned all Dixie Conference honors, while achieving Academic All-American status.

Zack started his coaching career in 1986 with Reston Youth Basketball, and was a mainstay in the development of local talent in the Reston area. Such names as Grant Hill (NBA All-star), Joey Beard (Barcelona Spain Euro league), Doug McGloughlin-Williams (Derby Trailblazers, UK) and Lansdale McAllen (Florida International) have played on teams that Zack has coached. He returned home to the Richmond area in 2004 and has picked up where he left off developing young talent such as Jalen Hudson, (Virginia Tech signee), and Jacob Kessler, (Army signee). Zack's coaching career has produced many winning teams, but more importantly his players have gone on to achieve great heights on and off the court.

Zack has trained and coached all ages. He is the lead trainer and CEO of Prep United Basketball where fundamentals are the basis for growth and development. Zack doesn't just train he mentors and teaches the game. He attends his client's games and teaches them what they need to do to be successful.

I call all clients first to find out what you need and what you want to accomplish and then put together a session made just for you. No two players are the same and all have different strengths and weaknesses.

Hard work, hard work, hard work. All sessions start with talking about where you are and where you want to go. We discuss weaknesses and strengths to help understand your game and how you can grow as a player and make an impact on your team.

We then do the fundamentals necessary for your development. If you need to strengthen your ball handling we will do multiple ball handling drills. If you need to work on your shot we will do multiple drills to work on shooting and scoring the basketball. We will always work on the weaknesses first and then work on drills to take more advantage of your strengths in games.

We end all sessions with a discussion on how to apply what you have learned in games.

My son had a great first session with Coach Xavier to work on fundamentals and strategy. He improved his shooting technique and learned about how to play smarter. We like the drills Coach Xavier have him to practice in between sessions.

Coach Xavier did a fantastic first session with my son! He was able to assess his strengths and focus on his weaknesses in short order. We’re signing up for more!

My son had one session with coach Xavier and played a whole different game tonight. He looked like a different player! We will be using him again for sure!!

My son has only had one session so far but not only do I see an improvement but so does his AAU coaches. I will continue to have my son train with Coach Xavier so I can see more improvement with my son skills.

Excellent coach and great guy. My 12 year old son has really responded and improved his skills working with Xavier.

It went great. He helped me with what I was doing wrong.

Coach Xavier "Zach" has been a wonderful fit for my son! He began prior to the first session asking what strengths and weaknesses my son felt he had and then worked a specialized training plan to focus on the areas of improvement. In addition he stressed improving upon the strengths. We have seen marked improvement in many skill areas including shooting, ball handling as well as over all conditioning in just a few weeks! We would highly recommend coach Zach.

July 1, 2011 Robert Stratton Athletic/Activities Director Hanover High School 10307 Chamberlayne Road Mechanicsville, VA 23116 Dear Mr. Stratton, Xavier Trimiew has been a Head Coach at U-Turn Sports Academy for the past five seasons. He has been dedicated to our program and the mission it serves in the Richmond Virginia area. Zack as we call him has been an outstanding coach and role model for our program. He has consistently put together winning teams and has lead young men in a way consistent with U-Turn’s Christian values. We are proud to have Zack as a part of our program. Zack currently serves on the AAU board at U-Turn and is instrumental in mentoring young men of all walks of life. He has dedicated his time and resources to making our program one of the best in Richmond. In the 2005-2006 AAU season Zack took a marginally talented team of young men who never played AAU before and finished 10th in the country at AAU nationals. I watched as these young men listened and grew as individuals under the tutelage of Zack Trimiew. I am proud to recommend Zack Trimiew for the Head Coaching position at Hanover HS. I hope you will make him a part of your program. Sincerely, Anna Prillaman Director of AAU Basketball U-Turn Warriors
