I Coach for a Competitive Swim Team in Indianapolis. I am one of only Three Age Group Coaches In Indiana that Hold the Level V Certification from ASCA. ASCA Level V is the highest level for a Swim coach to achieve. I am a USA Swimming Certified Coach and Red Cross LifeGuard Certified. I have been coaching athletes for 30 plus years. The best way to learn how to swim faster is in person. Video lessons and Skype do not get the job done. A video does not show all dimensions of swimming.

Life Long Competitive Swimmer. I started competing when I was five and continue as a Masters Swimmer. I have Coached athletes for Thirty plus years. I hold the highest (Level V) American Swim Coach Association Certification.

Private lessons with me as your coach are tailor-made for each individual swimmer, considering their unique abilities and swimming history. No two swimmers are alike, and I understand the importance of recognizing and working with each swimmer's strengths and weaknesses.

One of the primary objectives of my coaching is to identify and correct flaws in the swimmer's technique. By focusing on refining their strokes, body positioning, and breathing patterns, we aim to enhance their overall performance and efficiency in the water. Whether it's improving the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, or freestyle, I am committed to providing personalized attention to help swimmers overcome any obstacles they face.

Additionally, I firmly believe in leveraging and maximizing a swimmer's existing strengths. By honing these skills and utilizing them effectively, we can elevate their swimming prowess to the next level. My coaching style is not about trying to mold every swimmer into a predefined technique but rather working with their unique abilities to achieve optimal results.

Before diving into the coaching process, I conduct a comprehensive review of the swimmer's current technique. By analyzing their strokes, turns, and starts, we gain a clear understanding of the areas that require improvement. Equally vital is the discussion of goals. I believe that setting attainable and ambitious goals is crucial to maintaining motivation and progress. Together, we chart a path towards achieving these objectives, whether it's reaching a personal best time, excelling in a specific stroke, or preparing for competitive events.

While technology has its place in swimming training, I am firm in my belief that reviewing and changing swimming technique requires an in-person approach. Observing a swimmer in real-time, providing immediate feedback, and making on-the-spot adjustments are invaluable elements of my coaching process. This level of personalized attention ensures that the swimmer gets the most out of each lesson and accelerates their progress.

Whether you are a beginner looking to master the basics or an experienced swimmer aiming to refine your skills, my private lessons are tailored to suit your needs, empowering you to reach your full potential in the pool.

Client Reviews

My daughter has been coached by Bill and I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for improvement in their swimmer's confidence and technique. Bill has worked with her starts, strokes, turns and underwaters. We write down Bill's advice and make sure to put it into practice during club practice. My daughter appreciates the one-on-one instruction and regularly asks for more lessons with Bill.

Bill is great! He was punctual and worked with my availability. We had a great session. I learned a lot and immediately started training with his advice. I've already noticed an improvement in my form and speed.

The first session with Coach Bill was great. He took the time to explain the areas of focus, and after our first session, my underwater and turns already felt better. I could see and feel a difference. Looking forward to working with Coach Bill again.

Being my first coached session, Coach Bill showed great patience while I was getting up to speed on common competitive swim terminology. Even better, he broke the session down to three or four main actions for me to improve on (with accompanying drills) and great explanations on the “why” and “how” to make the changes. Immediately had an improvement in my next workout - and have some great drills/tips to work on for the next few months as I hone my swim style. His experience certainly showed. Highly recommended!

My daughter had her first session with coach Bill. She had a great time. It's nice to see her excited about swimming again thanks to coach Bill. Clearly coach Bill knows his stuff.

Bill was very responsive for booking the sessions and the level of detail provided after the sessions was super helpful! It allows us to refer back to what was talked about. We highly recommend Bill!

Very Knowledgeable and conveyed information in a way that Ava could understand quickly. We are very happy with the analysis and drills that we received from Coach Bill.

Coach Bill does a great job explaining technique and has helped my daughter to feel more confident in the water. He is very thorough and detail oriented. We appreciate all his help reinforcing proper stroke technique!

Coach Bill gave me all the details I did not get before. It was amazing how easy he could explain the mistakes I was doing. I will keep working on his notes and listening to his advises. Thanks

Coach Bill knows swimming techniques and gets kids to perform.

Coach Bill is an excellent technical instructor and he's been very good at working on stroke fixes that my 11 year-old can understand and implement. Coach Bill is very nice and professional, my swimmer loves these sessions and his times have dropped substantially. Highest recommendation.

Coach Billl is amazing with my 9yr old son. My son struggles with club swim but with coach Bill he enjoys the lessons and can't walt for the next class. Coach Bill is patience and kind and knows son's strengths and weakness just after a few minutes. Coach bill is very involved and never took his eyes off Tyler. Best thing we have ever done. I highly recommend Coach Bill and so does my son!

Coach Bill was great to work with, very patient and the right level of encouraging - lesson was an hour but it felt like 30 minutes and I wasn’t overwhelmed with too much to work on at once.

Coach Bill did a great job of listening to our concerns and observing where things can be improved. He covered everything we asked about and more and really took the time to go over things with my daughter. He was also very positive and encouraging when he talked about the items that needed to be improved. We will definitely be scheduling future lessons.

Coach Bill is incredible. He serves as club team coach for my sons but working with him one-on-one is a real privilege. He’s patient with squirrelly boys and engages them so they focus. My son thinks it’s a treat to have a private lesson with Coach Bill!
