More About Coach Ulises
The ages of kids I have coached have varied from 10 years old to 18 years old. I coached one season of varsity baseball and served as the outfield coach. I also was one of the hitting coaches at the high school varsity level. I also coached a team that had kids starting from the age of 10 to 14 for a year. I was the hitting coach for the team and coordinated fielding drills for the outfielders. I have had one on one fielding lessons with athletes I have coached. I have also given a couple one on one hitting lessons. I was an assistant coach for a 10-year-old travel team for a summer. On the travel ball team I would help the outfielders and infielders defensively. I would have specific drills coordinated for the different positions on the baseball field.
I played four years of high school varsity baseball and was all conference for three of those years. I was in the run for conference most valuable player for three out of the four years I played high school baseball. In high school I was named player of the game a handful of times. I lead my high school conference in innings my junior year. My senior year of high school I led my team in batting average and had the third highest batting average in the conference. I Helped win conference two out of the four years in high school. After my high school career, I ended up making the team at Golden West College which was is top 10 junior college baseball program in California. My sophomore year in college I hit .333. Made it to playoffs with Golden West College and started all three playoff games in center field.
Each session would be 45 minutes to an hour and would start off with a 5-minute warm up to get their hands working on the right bat path. It would start off with tee and then progress to front toss. After front toss, I will evaluate what the athlete needs work on and use specific drills to better their swing. If they feel confident in their swing, I will then throw to them. Each client will also get an evaluation of their swing and I would then develop hitting drills specific to batter. These drills will help clean up the flaws they might have in their swing. A drill I will incorporate into every athlete is the one hand swing with the bottom hand, because it is very beneficial to help the hitter get his or her hands in the on the right plan of contact.
