More About Coach Tyler
A life-time student of the game with 20+ years of experience in organized baseball, I have trained and competed at and above the Division I level. Division one record setter while switch-hitting and batting over .330. Showcase tips to help get you noticed! My coaching experience ranges Division I college baseball players to Middle School softball and as young as 5 year olds. I've worked with International athletes (Chinese, Spanish). I am certified in hard work and endurance and look forward to working with you at the academy or a location near you in efforts to get you to the next level as an athlete and person. I also make stops in the suburbs of Chicago, IL; New Buffalo, MI; Franklin/Nashville, TN; and Tupelo, MS.
I played at the Division I level with the Lipscomb University Bisons. I competed against the best ball players in the country including beating the defending National Champions and batting over .400 against top SEC programs (Auburn, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Tennessee). I’ve played with and against several MLB players, ie Jacob DeGrom, Chris Sale, Derek Dietrich, Deck McGuire, Rex Brothers, Caleb Joseph, Josh Smith, and countless others. I grew up around the corner and played a lot of yard ball with Brandon Woodruff (Brewers) and his older brother Blake. Below are a few of my highlights.
Set Lipscomb University’s single season stolen base record (40)
Ranked 8th nationally in stolen bases in 2010
4-4 w/ Homerun and 3 steals vs. 2012 Cy Young candidate and 2013 MLB All-Star Game winner Chris Sale
Batted .417 vs. SEC teams (15 for 36 in 9 games)
Lipscomb Golden Glove Award Recipient
Outfielder – 2009
Atlantic Sun Regular Season Champions
Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament Runner-Up
Lead Atlantic Sun Conference in stolen bases (25)
Junior College – Itawamba Community College
Outfielder – 2008
Team Rank #5 in coaches poll
Led team with 18 steals
Outfielder/2nd Baseman – 2007
Region 23 Runner-Up
Scored 9 runs in Region 23 Tournament
State Runner-Up
Pitcher/Shortstop – 2006
MS All-Star
Area All-Star in baseball and basketball
Mainly in person meetings only right now; but looking at online options too if you’re interested in those. I try to customize my sessions to the athlete and any goals or strengths they would like to focus on first. I love tee work for working on swing mechanics. I also utilize pictures and tend to provide other visual aids to help individuals see where they are suppose to be in each step of the swing analysis. I have the ability to video/record the client's swing and email the video with tips and instructions which provide improvement to the athlete's overall game. I like this feature because I am able to share beneficial and related articles, provide additional video analysis, and just keep in touch with clients.
For advanced students of the game, my specialty is base running, bunting, and controlling the momentum of the game, i.e. advantageous leadoffs, first steps, reading pitchers and sliding in order to put yourself in scoring position. Strength drills, new exercises and things athletes can work on at home are further information I like to share. Other strengths are switch-hitting (and switch-pitching so my clients can properly work on their switch-hitting), hitting for average and defense.

Tyler worked with my 8 yr-old son and did a great job. After four sessions, I can see a vast improvement in his throwing and his batting... Look forward to seeing the improvements on the field this fall. I would highly recommend Tyler for instructional lessons with your child as well - his patience and consistent positive reinforcement is great.
