More About Coach Tonny

I am a world class distance runner currently competing for the Santa Monica Track Club.
I compete is the following distances : a mile (4:01.99 PR), 5000M (13:33 PR) , 10000M (27:55.07 PR),Half Marathon 1 hour 5 mins .
I have been running at the highest level for more than a decade. Some of my accomplishments include two team bronze medals at the World Cross Country Championships , two times All American at the NCAA cross country championships (2004 and 2005) , two times All American on the track (2006 and 2007).
As far as my coaching experience is concerned , I have been coaching three individuals - one for two years and the other two for about 2 years years now. One has seen modest improvements in his 5k from 15:49 to 15:20 in the two years we have been together. The other two are elderly men above 50 just interested in staying fit. I have also learned and still learning from some of the best track and Field coaches in the world. My collegiate coach at the University of South Alabama was Lee Evans, 400m gold medalist from 1968 Mexico Olympics. My current coach at Santa Monica Track Club is Joe Douglas, he has coached numerous world class athletes in his more than 3 decades of coaching -the most well-known being Carl Lewis .
A typical session with me will basically focus on running style , speed and endurance improvement, and exercises to improve strength and flexibility .The session will start with a warm up , a brief stretching and then the main run.-
I have been competing as a professional level with Santa Monica for the last four years .

Bronze medal (team) at the 2001 IAAF World Cross Country Championships Junior men (16th individual )
Qualified in the 10000M for IAAF world athletics championships , Moscow 2013 ( 27:55.09 )

Session usually involves warming up, light stretching, workout , a cool down and light stretch again. The duration of the workout is determined by the fitness level of the athlete . I prefer to gradually increase the volume and the intensity to avoid injury risks.

Coach Tonny is superb, in just a couple sessions I've been able to transform my running so that I can run farther and faster. Went from running 1.6 miles to 3.2 miles (5k) in just a couple sessions. I'm still working on the breathing techniques but so far so good!

Coach Tonny was amazing with our son. He’d been struggling with running and with one session Tonny taught him how to pace himself, proper running form and most importantly gave him the confidence to run. He gave our son exercises to do daily and our son has been practicing and getting stronger and faster every week. We’ll definitely be booking with him again!

Coach Tony was great! We decided to get my 6 years old son started with running and picked Coach Tony due to his proven records. We definitely picked the right coach, he is very sweet and a super athlete and he introduced our son super quick to running. They practiced small runs and tiny longer runs, exercises and stretching. My son is now begging us to continue learning how to run better and faster.

From my husband who actually used the lessons: Coach Tonny is a SUPER nice guy. He's very encouraging and friendly and respective of your current level. I found myself wanting a lot more coaching and just felt more like he was a running partner. I'm not sure I learned anything during my three sesssions, but he at least confirmed the techniques I learned on YouTube and over years of running. He did push me fairly hard on all three runs though so that was good.

Awesome speed workout with Coach Tonny! My goal is to get faster and we did a speed workout for one hour. During that one hour, he pushed me to my maximum effort, so I got a really good workout. It was a 5 mile workout, but I was sweating like I had just done a half marathon! I also took away with a better plan on improving my speed. Can't wait for another lesson!
