More About Coach Timothy

I have coached athletes at various levels, in various sports. Currently I instruct martial arts classes in Newtown, PA for students ages 3 to 68 years old. Many of my students have gone on to compete and medal at international level tournaments. I currently hold the rank of 3rd degree black belt in Tang Soo Do, studying under Grandmaster Donald Drumm founder of The Karate Institute of America and Master Jay Cruz, Chief Instructor of Newtown Karate Academy.

I was a 2 sport collegiate athlete (basketball, Track & Field), as well as a first team all-state 400m hurdler in 2005. My martial arts accomplishments are as follows:

As a martial arts instructor, it is crucial that a solid foundation of knowledge and ability is set before we progress into higher levels of technique and performance. As an initial student there will be an evaluation to determine level of fitness, body awareness, and aptitude to determine the speed of instruction. A student can expect the learn the basics of blocking, kicking, and punching, as well as proper stances and weight distribution. This is developed through drills both performed in the air, and on pads, as well as through the use of forms and one steps (structured self-defense drills). As a student progresses these categories of instruction will increase in difficulty and complexity in relation to the capabilities shown by each student. Students will be awarded a belt and a certificate to indicate level of accomplishment within the system of Tang Soo Do.
