More About Coach Tiana
I have been running/competing in the sport of Track and Field for over 10 years now. I have competed at the Division I level and participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships. I was also a part of the team that won 8 consecutive conference championships. I have my USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification and I have been coaching high school athletes going on 3 years now. Many of my athletes have qualified for and participated in CIF Finals, the meet before state. My specialties are the Long Jump and 100m Hurdles, but as a former triple jumper and sprinter, I have experience in those events as well. A typical session with me consists of a solid warm-up, workout, and cool-down. Workouts will not always be fun, but you will get the results you are looking for, and that is to be a better Track and Field athlete. I focus on building the core/foundation of the athlete first through conditioning, and then we move on to specific technical work once your endurance is up to par.

Coaching:

Had two athletes qualify for CIF Prelims in the 300 hurdles, as well as our 4x100m relay team qualify for CIF Finals last season
My sessions really depend on the athlete, so they are on a case-by-case basis. Typical beginning workouts focus on conditioning, so there is a log of continuous relays, diagonals, X's on the football field, abs, stadium stairs, plyometrics, and weight training. Once their endurance is up to par, we go into the technical side of their event, focusing on drills, approach work, and their technique. It is a lot of repetition. How you perform in practice needs to carry over to how you perform in a meet, which is why we will work hard in practice so you can be happy with your performance results come game time. I emphasize a good warm-up and cool-down as well, as these are the things that help prevent injury. I have made it to the Division I level and the big stage.I am also big on building the confidence and esteem of my athletes, so we also do a lot of mental training as well. My goal is to help each of my athletes be the best athlete that they can be, and hopefully that too means reaching that level or whatever desired level they may wish to see.
