More About Coach Thomas
I have extensive experience as a private coach for elite high school athletes in Houston, TX, working with both male and female students on an individual basis. While I am open to coaching all age groups, I particularly enjoy working with high school and college athletes who are committed to elevating their game to the next level. My focus is on helping them achieve their full potential and excel in their sport.
I played college basketball at John Brown University, where I led our team to the NAIA national tournament in 2011-12. In high school, I guided 5A John Foster Dulles High School to the Texas state finals and earned 1st Team All-District honors, as well as Athlete of the Year from the athletic department. I was offered opportunities to play in the PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) but chose to pursue medical school alternatively.
**Coaching Session Plan:**
** 1-2 hour sessions available w/ different pricing
**Objective:** Achieve coaches’ and athletes’ goals through structured training with incremental growth and specific targets.
**Schedule:** 2-3 individual sessions per week in private gym, with a weekly YMCA scrimmage for skill assessment.
**Session Breakdown (60 minutes):**
- **10 minutes:** Dynamic stretching for flexibility and injury prevention.
- **20 minutes:** High rep dribbling and shooting drills to build muscle memory and accuracy.
- **20 minutes:** Game speed drills to enhance performance under pressure.
- **10 minutes:** Cool down stretching for muscle recovery.
**Outcome Goals:**
- **Short-term (2 weeks):** Improved dribbling control and shooting form.
- **Mid-term (4 weeks):** Consistent performance in drills and scrimmages.
- **Long-term (8 weeks):** Significant skill growth and enhanced game performance. Regular progress assessments and adjustments will be made.
