More About Coach Terence

My background in sports goes back to kindergarten. I have played organized basketball since the age of six. I have won many trophies and championships as a youth, and was a starter on every team I played. I was heavily recruited throughout my "short-lived" career in sports with many high schools in the Chicago area. At the start of high school I suffered an injury that side-lined me from sports because I did not properly allow time for it to heal.

Entering into college I decided to be behind the scenes and enter into Health as a major with the accredited University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign). There I enrolled in the College of Health Sciences within the Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism with a concentration in Sports Management. This curriculum gave me a well-rounded education not only in Sports Management but in the health aspect of athletes as well, thus, ensuring that when I coach athletes they will never endure the uncertainty of how to properly deal with injuries.

I have been coaching basketball since 1997 with different community programs and youth organizations in the Chicago area. I am very skilled at the fundamental aspects of sports and training raw talent into skill. While enrolled in college, i "fine tuned" my talent evaluating skills as a recruiting coach for the NCSA (National Collegiate Scouting Association). I am a defensive minded coach that is an expert at the 2-3 defense. As for offensive, I am very good at teaching the art of shooting, playing off the ball, offensive awareness and dribbling. Another skill I concentrate heavily on is rebounding because it gives you a chance to get the ball to display skills.

I am an intense coach that accepts nothing but the best from players at the same time not taking the fun aspect out of playing because we all play the game for the love of the game. I specialize in the art of team work and turning athletes into champions. My coaching skills are second to none and I take pride in my ability and after a session with me you will also take pride in your enhanced ability. Thank you for your consideration and hope to see you soon.

As for accolades I take pride in my earlier achievements such as placing in at a very close second place in my middle school iron man competition. That year my basketball team managed to also go undefeated in our 95' 96' championship season in two out of the three catholic league tournaments we were in. My coaching career has seen similar results as my community center league team went undefeated in our 00' 01' championship run. The following two years (01'02' & 02'03') were championship seasons as well.

Coach Terence is giving my 11 year old daughter lesson. She is new to the game and he has been patient and understanding but at the same time getting her to work outside of her comfort zone so she can broaden her basketball knowledge and skills. I've seen improvements in her game and she has enjoyed the lessons. I would recommend Coach Terence.

Coach Terence has been an amazing coach and mentor to my son. Basketball doesn't come naturally to my son. He works hard to build his skills. We sought out private coaching because my son loves the game and wasn't getting much playing time. Coach Terence works him hard both physically and mentally. Along the way, Coach always focuses on the positive. Every week he encourages my son to work hard. No two workouts have ever been the same. I love that! My son has improved in shooting, balance, agility.... Coach Terence looks at the individual and tailors his coaching to that student's needs. While improving his game, my son has learned many life lessons as well- perseverance, determination, and hard work. We HIGHLY recommend Coach Terence. 5 stars isn't enough!

Great workout! Really went at it and killed me today.

Coach Terance has been great in terms of finding my weakness. Sometimes I struggled with wide open lay-ups, and Terance would train me exclusively to make sure I got all the easy buckets. Now I am much better before in layups. I've also Improved in aspects like dribbling and shooting, being able to improve my all around game. Great coach overall.

Coach Terence is professional, competent and has an easy going approach, which has helped my 11 year old son improve his basketball skills.
He explains the fundamental in a simple way and implements his teaching during the session.I highly recommend Coach Terence to anyone.
