More About Coach Taryn

I have experience coaching athletes and active individuals of all ages and ability levels, ranging from middle school athletes to collegiate and Olympic-level competitors. Throughout my career, I've also worked extensively with everyday gym-goers, recreational athletes, and adults looking to improve their strength, body composition, and overall health.

I gained much of my sports performance experience at the Institute of Performance and Fitness (IPF), where I coached athletes across a variety of sports and competitive levels. More recently, as a physical therapist and strength coach at Paramount Performance & Rehab, I treated active adults and athletes, helping them recover from injuries while continuing to work toward their strength and fitness goals.

In addition to my in-person experience, I own PHLEX, my remote coaching business, where I work with individuals who want to build muscle, lose body fat, improve performance, or return to training after an injury. My approach combines evidence-based rehabilitation with strength and conditioning to help clients reach their fitness goals safely and effectively.

I hold a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree and am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), allowing me to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and performance training.

I competed as a varsity athlete at Westford Academy, where I played basketball, volleyball, and lacrosse. I continued my athletic career by playing club basketball while attending the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Although I did not compete at the collegiate varsity or professional level, my experience as a multi-sport athlete has given me a strong understanding of athletic development, teamwork, and the demands of competitive sports, which has complemented my career as a physical therapist and strength coach.

Every session is individualized and built around the client's long-term goals. Whether someone is working around an injury, building muscle, improving strength or power, enhancing sport-specific performance, or simply becoming healthier and more resilient, each workout is designed to move them closer to that goal.

I focus on helping clients move well before loading movement appropriately. Sessions emphasize functional movement patterns while developing mobility, stability, strength, power, and overall athleticism. Most programs incorporate full-body training to maximize performance, efficiency, and long-term progress while reducing injury risk.

Throughout each session, I prioritize proper exercise technique, progressive overload, and education so clients understand not only what they're doing, but why they're doing it. My goal is to help clients build strength, move confidently, and develop sustainable habits that support lifelong health and performance.

Client Reviews

Mich (CoachUp client)

Taryn is an outstanding coach, personal trainer, and physical therapist. She successfully treated my hip pain, and I now continue working with her for full-body strength and fitness training. She is knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely cares about her clients. She is also fun to work with and has a great sense of humor. She has made a significant difference in both my recovery and overall fitness.
