More About Coach Tamera
I have been coaching high school dance/drill teams for the last five years at two different public schools in Spokane, WA. I co-coached at Shadle Park for two years and assisted the team to State each year. I then took over as Head coach at North Central and completely re-built the program. Over the summers I have worked privately with high school dancers and cheerleaders to improve their skills. I am CPR and stunt certified by Washington State Dance/Drill Coaches Association.
I danced at the collegiate level for Gonzaga University's 2013-2014 hip hop dance team (Bomb Squad) who competed at UDA in Tacoma, WA and placed 2nd this year. I also have a dance minor from Gonzaga University and led the executive council for the on-campus, student-led dance club, Boundless. I have attended the American College Dance Festival with Gonzaga from 2010 - 2012. I have assisted in Dance for Parkinson's at Gonzaga by helping patients with Parkinson's disease work through movements and combinations. I was a ZagDance teacher for Gonzaga and taught elementary school children creative movement. My choreography has been recognized at Gonzaga during the 2011 Spring Dance Concert. I have assistant taught Jazz and Urban/Hip Hop classes at Gonzaga as well.
My sessions are completely customized to the needs of my dancers. I can accommodate young or inexperienced dancers looking for technique, skills and choreography in Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, Drill, and Hip Hop. I also have programs for conditioning and increasing flexibility. I typically start with a 10 minute warm-up that incorporates conditioning followed by 10 minutes of basic stretching. Then across-the-floors with locomotor movements and combinations that help build technique and coordination for 10 minutes, followed by similar exercises at center. Then I will teach a 4-8 8 counts of choreography to music for students to take home. I like to end with deep stretches to increase flexibility and talk about methods of stretching and ways to improve other dance skills.

Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication. You certainly took this challenging group of young people to a much higher level than ever before - and for that you should be enormously proud!
Mike R/Athletic Director at North Central high school (Testimonial)
You have done an amazing job at NC with the drill team. We are all so very proud of your effort level and your commitment that you have shown over the years. The NC drill team should be very proud that they are coached by a very classy and dedicated young lady.
