More About Coach Steven

Trained and certified under Mike Boyle as a Certified Functional Strength Coach (CFSC) and a Level 2 Functional Movement Screen (FMS) I have the tools to make sure you reach your goals while greatly reducing your injuries by focusing on making sure sound movement patterns always precede loading them. I'm just as invested in my athletes' success because I know at the end of the day it is my name on the line for being a knowledgeable and great coach and I want to see good athletes become great ones.

Most of my years as an athlete were spent with some kind of injury or another due to poor coaching which is why I myself became a coach in attempt to break that cycle of misinformation and inadequate coaching, specifically when it comes to resistance training.

Every session has the same framework but obviously the program varies based on needs and goals and between mesocycles. Every session starts off with a quick 5 minute warm up that always changes, followed by guided foam rolling (self myofascial release) for 5 minutes, then dynamic stretching and dynamic movement patterns for another 5 or so minutes. After this (depending on sport or needs) the athlete will do agility and propioceptive drills, pre-loading, plyometrics, or begin strength work. Strength work typically lasts 20-30 minutes. Following the strength work we do energy-system specific conditioning for the sport being trained for. For example a football player requires a different method of conditioning compared to a baseball player. After conditioning I recommend a cool down and foam rolling again though I don't require the athletes to do it with me as long as they do it at some point.
