More About Coach Sterlen
During the year of 2017 I instructed students in Life Wellness, Weight Lifting and walking for fitness. I was also an assistant Coach working with High schoolers for the Road Runners Athletic club located in Abilene Texas. Currently, I coach at Tusculum University where I work with all the Cross Country athletes in the Fall while in the spring I coach from the 400m to 10k on the track as well as the Throwing events. I typically work with collegiate athletes but I also work with High Schoolers from time to time. At the moment I am coaching a freshman in high school for the upcoming cross-country season. Since coaching at Tusculum University they have had their highest finish at the championship level on the women side since 2008 and moved one position up on the men's from previous years. I do enjoy working with athletes on there various disciplines in Track and Field and look forward to helping many more achieve their goals.
My name is Sterlen Paul an Assistant Coach for Cross Country/Track and Field at Tusculum University. Prior to becoming a coach I competed at the D1 level in both Cross Country and Track and Field where I specialized in the 400m- 49.5, 800m-1:52.22, 1500m- 3:58.38 and 8k- 25:09. I competed at Abilene Christian University in Abilene Texas where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. Before attending Abilene Christian, I attended a NAIA institution Wiley College where I earned a conference championship, the best runner award and champion of character award. I placed 8th overall at our Cross Country conference championship helping my team to a runner-up team finish and punching our ticket to the NAIA nationals. During the Track season of that year I qualified for the 800m at the National Championships where I competed and placed in the top 3 in four events to lead my team to their first Conference Championships in 31 years. At Abilene I led my team to a all conference runner-up finish in the Men's DMR and several individual all conference finals in the 800m. In addition, to my athletic accomplishments I have had several all conference academic honor roll honors as well.
A season would vary based on a athletes specific events and what will work best for that athlete. However, every athlete will be required to take part in a warm-up stretch, drills, cool-down and other supplemental work to improve strength and muscular development. For instance, my half-milers will do a 1/2mile to a mile warm-up, followed by strides and dynamic stretching. Afterwards they will do a variety of speed drills to work on their speed and get their legs turning over before the workout. Then, they will go into the workout for the day. After the workout is completed we will spend some time discussing the workout and how it felt on their body etc. There cool-down would then follow and depending on the day they will have core work or general strength work to improve their strength and conditioning. But, this is how a workout day can look like depending on the athlete.

Client Reviews
Nancy (CoachUp client)
My daughter just completed her third session this evening and we are very impressed and extremely satisfied. Coach Sterlen is extremely knowledgeable and offers excellent instruction and explains techniques in throwing the shot put and discus. Furthermore, he is very professional, offers great feedback, helps set realistic goals for her and again offers excellent instruction by taking his time to explain his methods. We are booking more sessions this evening and would highly recommend Coach Sterlen to anyone wanting to "up their game" in most all track events.
UPDATE: Starting the outdoor track season, my daughter simply had a goal to PR. Not only did she PR in both events, she finished in the top 10 at the conference meet and qualified for the sectional meet!
