More About Coach Stephen
As a coach, I have primarily worked with Track & Field and gymnastics. As a trainer, I train all athletic backgrounds as well as general fitness. I come from a diverse athletic background myself and have consistently pushed the limits of my body in various ways; having such a mixed experience and fitness intelligence has allowed me to approach my athletes and clients in different ways. I currently train athletes in soccer, basketball, track, football, and kickboxing; they range from Elementary school to NCAA Division I and III and recreational sports. I am ISSA certified.I specialize in Sports Science with concentrations on muscular imbalances and skeletal deviations. I co-founded a small Sports Performance and Personal Training facility in Cuyahoga Falls.
I am a former top state USA Gymnast (many moons ago). I also have a background in boxing and martial arts and am still always a practitioner of various forms for my health and self-defense reasons. I was a tri-athlete in High School (track & field, wrestling, and football). However, I only did the other sports to prepare me for track season, granted I was not recovering from injury. I graduated with 3 high school track and field records as well as some stadium records. I am a NCAA Division I MAC champion for Track & Field. I was also a member of the badminton club and a member of the unofficial Kent State MMA Club.
Because I train everyone differently and apply different training methods, I cannot say specifically how I will train. The most important thing that I must always address, are any muscular imbalances and any discrepancies in the deep muscular stabilization system. I always train to the strengths of the athlete and required movement; but if these two matters are not addressed, it can lead injury and chronic injury in the near or far future for an athlete. My primary concern is always the longevity and health and safety of my clients and athletes, the big picture is always the most important for an athlete.
