More About Coach Sohwon

I am a 3rd Dan Black belt in taekwondo I was the head instructor at US taekwondo College in Chantilly VA who was owned by 2011-2012 VA state State President G.M. Han Kyu Kim who is also my father. I also helped in the Olympic Sport taekwondo Program as well which has brought numerous Local, State and national titles in all belt and age ranges.
I also have done numerous private lessons for many athletes ranging the ages of 6-16 in the DC, Maryland, VA area. I have also done private lessons for beginner level adults as well. I am a certified 3rd Dan by the World taekwondo federation kukkiwon, I am also a member of the National governing body of USAT and WTF Global Athlete License.

7X VA state Champion. ;x USA National Medalist 3 Golds, 1 silver, 1 bronze. Former Back to back National Champion. Adult division Sr national champion at the age of 17. Former US National Team Member. Bronze Medal at 2013 Pan am open championship, Bronze Medal 2014 Colombia Open, Gold Medal US Cup championship, 2012 Midwest open player of the tournament, 2012 50 most influential Korean Americans in the DC metropolitan area. Quarterfinals at 2015 US open Taekwondo G2, 2015 National Collegiate Taekwondo Championship Silver Medal, 2015 Pan American University taekwondo championship Silver medal 2015 Korean American Sports Festival Gold medal, MVP. As For beginners learning the art it will consist of basic footwork drills and movements, Basic Kicking Techniques, blocking Techniques, speed, agility, coordination, stretching and flexibility necessary to be a taekwondo athletes.
FOR ADVANCED ATHLETES:
A quick warm up to begin such as a 5-7 minute jog or Jump rope then we get into both static and dynamic stretching which will include our basic kicking technique as we use it as full range of motion. Focus Target/Mitt work drills to enhance in timing, speed and precision with basic and advance technique kicking as well as laced with the footwork and movements.
Shield kicking to enhance power and Combination kicking.
Then practicing on working the effective scoring techniques which means as our sport drastically changes with new rules and styles and systems. We always have to stay educated with what works best with the system.
Finish with strength and conditioning and discussion.
