More About Coach Shane

I am an assistant Freshman coach at Salesian High school of the CHSAA “A” division. I am also a Trainer at Shane the Dribbling Machine school of skills. My dad, Shane “The Dribbling Machine” Woney, formerly from the And 1 Mixtape tour and I conduct training sessions 3-4 times a week at our school gym. We currently train some of the top ranked middle school and high school players in NYC. In 2023 I was the head coach of the International Basketball Academy ‘26 AAU team. USA Gold Certified.

I was a 3 year Varsity starting Point Guard at Thurgood Marshall Highschool in Harlem, NY. Played AAU for the NY Gauchos, New Heights, and Long Island Lightning. Did a world tour with the world famous Harlem Globetrotters and played professional for the Court Jesters Comedy Basketball Team.

A typical session at our school of skills starts with a heavy ball, ball handling warmup. Then we get into ball handling combos into different finishes at the rim. Next we will change moves and get up shots. Lastly there will be a scrimmage where we teach fundamentals of passing cutting and playing without the ball. The focus of our training sessions is to not only train and teach skill work but to also teach how to play the game without the ball ie: off ball screens, running proper lanes, help defense, communication and recognizing mismatches.
