More About Coach Shane
Native of South Georgia and North Florida, began studying the martial arts in 1991 at the age of 7. I made my Professional Mixed Martial Arts debut in 2006. I have fought against world class competitors in Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, and Florida. Among other promotions, I have had victories in the RFC: Real Fighting Championship - Florida's largest and longest running MMA promotion. Later on I earned a Nova Uniao blue & purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under UFC and WEC veteran Rich "Cleat" Crunkilton. I opened my own gym to give amateur athletes the training and experience crucial to them before entering the pro arena.

BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using proper technique, leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground, and then applying joint-locks and choke holds to defeat the other person. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition or self-defense. Sparring (commonly referred to as "rolling") and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition, in relation to progress and ascension through its ranking system.
