Shane Richards

Hi my name is Shane. I’m a former professional basketball player with a decade of experience playing at an elite level.
I’ve been a player development coach now for over 2 years, and have trained well over 100 pro basketball players for Taylor Sports Group (NBA & overseas).
I also have extensive training experience working with boys and girls of all ages. (Ages 7-50)

College Experience:
- Former D1 standout for Manhattan College
- Manhattan College All-time leading 3 point shooter in school history (312)
- Holds Manhattan College single season record for 3 pointers made (92)
- 1 of just 5 players in MAAC conference history to convert over 300 three pointers
- Finished 8th in Manhattan College history with 1,472 career points
- 2 time MAAC champion, making 2 NCAA tournament appearances
- All-MAAC 1st team ‘15-16
- MAAC All-Tournament Team
- MAAC Rookie of the Year ‘12-13
- MAAC All-Rookie team ‘12-13
Professional Experience:
- Drafted 24th overall by Erie BayHawks in the NBA G league draft
- Played 3 seasons in the NBA G league.
2 seasons for the RGV Vipers (Houston Rockets affiliate),
1 season for Sioux Falls Skyforce (Miami Heat affiliate).
- Played 2 seasons overseas:
1 year in Poland (Spójnia Stargard).
1 year in Germany (Eisbären Bremerhaven).

Every workout that I conduct is different based on the athletes age, skill level, strengths, weaknesses, and position.

The 1st session is typically used as an assessment for me to see where the athlete stands. From there I can carefully craft a workout plan to maximize our time on the court to help develop, and strengthen what the athlete is deficient in.
Below is a template on how my workouts are run:
- We start with Ball Handling + passing
- Working on finishing at the rim
- Skill work… Guards: playing out the pick and roll.
Bigs: playing out the post, pick and pop scenarios, etc.
- Shots from the mid range
- Shots from 3
- Cardio shooting (making sure we can make shots while fatigued)
- Free throws
