Selena C.

I have taught the art of ballet and modern to school aged children between the ages of 3 and 15. I began teaching as a work study program and then branched out to teach my own classes for profit. I have trained in dance (Genesis Dance) as well as trained for Board of Education programs (Inner Force Tots). Within Inner Force Performing Arts Center, I also began my own flexibility and acrobatic classes for children to learn tricks. During their summer camp, I created a step program for young men who had no interest in dance but enjoyed stepping. This program is still being used to this day.

I graduated from Queensborough Community College with my Associates degree in Dance. During my experience there I was chosen to work with repertoire companies such as Laurie May and Urban Bush Woman. I am currently attending Hunter College training for my Bachelor's degree in Dance and choreographing my own pieces as well.

I attended Cardozo High School as a Dance major, and graduated with a Regents Diploma. I graduated from Queensborough Community College with an Associate's Degree in Dance, where I was also given the highest award possible in Dance. I am currently a senior at Hunter College, seeking my Bachelor's Degree in Dance Education.

During a session I focus on the balance of strength and flexibility. Also showing the importance of knowing your body, how it works and the dynamics of every movement. Having all of these components as well as knowledge of vocabulary provides a dancer with the necessary tools to be confident to perform at other establishments.
