More About Coach Santiago
I’ve had the opportunity to train and coach athletes both through my competitive experience and my work with national organizations. I played tennis at a high level in Colombia, where I was ranked 2nd nationally in singles and 1st in doubles at the age of 16. That ranking led me to represent Colombia twice in international competition, which was a pivotal point in my career.
Because of my performance, I was offered a role with the Colombian Tennis Federation, where I began coaching teenagers and also served as a sparring partner for professional players. That experience gave me firsthand exposure to high-performance training environments and allowed me to contribute to the development of young athletes preparing for national and international tournaments.
Most of the athletes I’ve worked with have been between the ages of 13 and 18, including some on the pathway to professional or collegiate competition. I’m currently in the process of pursuing formal certifications to complement my hands-on experience, but my background as a nationally ranked player and involvement with the federation has already given me deep insight into elite player development.
I bring a strong background in high-performance tennis, both as a player and a coach. Over the course of three years, I won more than 50 official national tournaments in Colombia. At the age of 16, I was ranked 1st nationally in singles and 2nd in doubles, maintaining that level for an entire year. This success earned me the opportunity to represent Colombia twice in international South American competitions held in Paraguay and Peru.
In addition to my national success, I also competed and won tournaments in the U16 category in the United States, gaining international exposure and experience.
A typical session with me is focused, dynamic, and personalized to the athlete’s needs and goals. My approach is grounded in the fundamentals I developed as a high-level competitor and coach with the Colombian Tennis Federation.
Each session starts with a short physical and mental warm-up to prepare the athlete for high-intensity work. From there, I move into specific drills designed to target key areas—whether that’s footwork, stroke mechanics, shot selection, or match play tactics.
I place a strong emphasis on consistency and control first, then layer in power, spin, and point construction depending on the player’s level. For example, with developing players, I might work on rhythm and timing with cross-court rally drills or forehand/backhand isolation. With more advanced athletes, I incorporate live ball drills that simulate match scenarios, including pressure situations and transitions from defense to offense.
Mental toughness, focus, and competitiveness are a big part of my sessions. I create challenges within the drills to push players beyond their comfort zone and develop resilience. I also give real-time feedback, break down technique when needed, and always end the session with a quick recap and targeted homework for improvement.
Whether I’m coaching a rising junior or sparring with a pro-level athlete, my goal is always to maximize potential while keeping the training environment intense, purposeful, and motivating.

Jessica Cooper (Testimonial)
My son was struggling with consistency in his tennis game. He would hit some amazing shots but couldn’t maintain his focus and accuracy during matches, leading to too many errors. What really stood out about this coach was how they broke down his technique and focused on developing a solid, repeatable swing. The coach also worked on his mental approach, teaching him how to stay focused and adjust during matches. Since working with this coach, my son’s consistency has improved dramatically. He now stays calm, keeps his shots steady, and has seen a huge boost in his performance on the court. We’re incredibly pleased with his progress!
Emily Sullivan (Testimonial)
My two kids were starting to lose motivation and struggle with consistency in their training. My son was frustrated with his progress, and my daughter often lacked focus. What really stood out about this coach was how they made every session engaging and purposeful. The coach doesn’t just focus on drills—he incorporates real-game scenarios and gives constant feedback, which keeps both of my kids involved and excited to improve. My son’s motivation has skyrocketed, and my daughter’s focus during training is stronger than ever. The way the coach tracks their development over time and adjusts each session has been key to their progress. I’m thrilled to see the growth in their skills and confidence!
Hope Mitchell (Testimonial)
We were struggling to find the right coach for our daughter. She had talent but lacked confidence and consistency on the field. From the very first session, we noticed a change—not just in her skills, but in her mindset. What really stood out was how the coach created a clear development plan and tracked her progress week by week. He even came to her games to evaluate her in real situations, which made the training much more effective. Our daughter is now more confident, understands the game better, and looks forward to every session. We couldn’t be happier with the results!
Sarah Johnson (Testimonial)
Working with Coach Santi has been a game-changer for my 14-year-old. In just a few months, I’ve seen a huge improvement not only in my child’s technique and footwork but also in confidence and discipline on and off the court. Coach Santi knows how to push players to reach their potential while keeping the sessions fun and motivating. My kid now looks forward to every training session
