More About Coach Ryan
Since hanging up the cleats, I’ve returned to my alma mater to help incoming players develop their skills and adjust to the program. In addition to working with high school athletes, I’ve also provided private batting and fielding lessons to younger players at the youth and travel ball levels. Through these experiences, I’ve coached a range of age groups from elementary school to high school.
I was a Division I baseball player at George Washington University, where I gained valuable experience training and working with a variety of MLB and collegiate players. Through my development, I have learned valuable experience on and off the field. I’ve been playing baseball since I was 8 years old, progressing through travel ball, high school, and ultimately competing at the collegiate level.
Depending on whether we’re focusing on hitting or fielding, the approach varies. For hitting, we work through a series of drills, starting with tee work, then front toss, and eventually live pitching to develop the proper feel and mechanics of the swing. For fielding, we would focus on glove work and footwork drills before progressing to fielding ground balls. At the end of every session, we put mechanics aside and just focus on having fun, allowing what we’ve practiced to naturally come through.
